meanderson93 3
I left out some of the younger lads, Edwards, Graham, King-Harmes etc as I reckon they're more than likely going to be out on loans. Edwards I think is still struggling with an ankle injury but I also don't rate him personally.

Edwards is 24 in October so very much make or break for him this season, though he's under contract for another two years yet. He would have been a disaster in high back line, we need athletic wing backs. He's always posting that Herbalife Pyramid Scheme on his social media, and managed to crash his car at 4am days after signing for us. Cheerio.

Burndens Bogs 515
Charlie Adam would have been great for us last couple of seasons. Seems like IE likes to play a high energy pressing game, suited to very fit young 'un's. Can't imagine this type of football suiting CA.

If anything further comes from it then we've no idea what sort of money he'd be asking for. Also, maybe Evatt is looking at bringing him in with a view of a coaching role which appeals to Adam ahead of getting paid £X. Who knows.
ErnestTurnip 167
In the statement that came out from the EFL about the salary cap it does mention bonuses counting towards the cap but then it says: Quote Payments directly linked to a Club’s progression in cup competitions or promotion are excluded from the Cap That to me means we could sell the dream to potential players and pay them small enough wages to keep under the cap but then weigh em in big time with a promotion payment. It'd be a financial risk for the players but if you're a free agent or someone like Adam who is knocking on a bit but still well capable especially at this level then it might be summat for them to consider. frank_spencer 619
If Evatt intends to use Adam as a poor mans Pirlo (Sitting in and around the centre circle linking everything up) then i can see the signing making sense. Even the best attacking sides have needed that anchor
bolton va va 376
Adam is 35 this year & just been released by Reading so might not be getting any more big offers......plus with him knowing Evatt ,it might make it more doable. As a player though, yes & no. With the ball, no doubt he'd be very useful, ( & he'd probably be useful as an experienced head to the younger players ) but it's hard to see how he could fit in to the high energy game that IE is wanting us to play, & we've already got Doyle, who's the same apparently. nantwichwhite 15
Not sure about this one, his career has been on a downward spiral for a number of years and incidentally pocketed a fortune from it, particularly at Stoke. Hopefully just in training as a favour for an old colleague.

Mantra 97
Having Adam's technical ability to pick a pass would really suit us if we're struggling to unlock a team who have 10 men behind the ball. Don't need to have high intensity pressing players all over the pitch if the opposition have no intention of attacking.

Agree Mantra, I see many teams sitting back and hoping to catch us on the break, especially at the UniBol, so it would be ideal for Adam to sit in midfield and pick the passes. Just because we play a high tempo, passing game doesn’t mean all the players need to be sprinters. Experience and positioning can be far more valuable in certain games. If the opposition do attack we have plenty options instead anyway. Edited August 19, 2020 by Whitesince63
birch-chorley 641
Most sensible folk would agree that he would be a solid addition at this level Just think he could get a gig elsewhere on a lot more Geography might work in our favour

Andy Gee 28
Would be a great signing just for his corners and free kicks, especially having 3 6 foot 4+ centre backs in the team. Think it was Fergie who said his corners are worth £10 million.
