fishbulb
Load of prostitutes based in the shadier parts of the old city walls. An amazing Thai restaurant under a bar - the Nid Noi it was called. A statue of a hare by Albrecht Durer. The massive avenues leading up to the site of said Nuremberg rallies. Still, things may have changed a bit since I was last there in 1988...
Site Supporter MickyD Posted January 18, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted January 18, 2017 Just have a walk round the rally grounds and the Nazi Museum. Soak in the atmosphere. Have a hike up to the castle, great views of the town from there. Marvel at how clean everything is and wonder why the Germans have a much deeper sense of pride in their country than we seem to have in ours. Plenty of pubs, plenty of restaurants. If you're there a few days have a trip north to a town called Bamberg. Another equally immaculate city. Look for the little brass floor plaques outside the houses where the Jews had been dragged from their homes by the SS. The plaques, or "TStumbling Stones" are raised about a quarter inch off the pavements in an effort to laugh at themselves. The Germans had a saying years ago, if you're walking along and stumble over nothing at all, they'd say that a Jew had just tripped you up. Hence, in memory of all the murdered Jews, the artist whose project it is, decided to put things on the pavements so that the Jews could trip you up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolperstein About as far South, Munich. From there catch a bus to Dachau Concentration Camp. A bit the same as other similar camps if you've been to Auschwitz or others.
Moderators Carlos Posted January 18, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 18, 2017 I didn't like it, and the rest of Germany is great. They were proper bitter about the war still. The train into Czech costs about £3.

The rally grounds are somewhere I will definitely be paying a visit too. Interesting about the plaques, will keep that to myself and tell my mates when I am there....look clever for once. whiteboy
After the England - Trinidad & Tobago game in 2006 I wandered into a 'club' where 5 Euros got you 2 cups of warm lager and a comfy seat in a room with a projector showing a video of a grey-haired German grandad shagging various ugly hairy german birds, interspersed with the occasional stripper. Did manage a decent hour's kip before being slung out to sleep in the station. Hope this helps.
Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted January 19, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted January 19, 2017 I was there for 9 days in Germany 2006 and also went to watch Haye v Valuev out there, I love the city. Had a Union Jack suit with poppy in for Haye fight with it being rememberence weekend and did not encounter any hostility at all. As MickyD says, a trip up to the castle is well worth while. Quite a steep walk up but a boozer or 2 on the way up help with a pit stop. The temptation is to drink in Finnegans Irish Bar near the city wall but that's very expensive compared to most. Stick around the main square and roads just off it, plenty of decent ale houses and restaurants

athywhite1958
I made a fortune selling white German helmets with an England sticker on, we set up camp in the fans park, even some of the Trinidad fans bought them, great city, my avatar is on the Sun fun bus in Nurneburg
Super Bock
I was there over Christmas for the markets, thought it was a fantastic place to visit. If you are going to the castle then Cafe Bar Wanderer is a must do pit stop. The beer glasses even have 'Wanderer' on them which could make for a half decent souvenir. If you're reading this Cafe Bar Wanderer, I'm sorry. I would also strongly recommend this place to try the local little Nuremberg sausages https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187310-d1390048-Reviews-Bratwursthausle-Nuremberg_Middle_Franconia_Franconia_Bavaria.html

Same here, was there in 2006 for the T&T game, went back again in 2011 to watch the Stranglers, I don't remember much about either execpt as Carlos said it was about £3 on the train to Prague and we bought all the beer off the train trolly bloke so nobody else could have any
