gonzo
Sounds pretty shit. Just rang the doctors and all systems down across the country apparently...
Sweep
talking about it on LBC now, it sounds horrific. If they catch whoever has done this, they should be executed
kent_white
Jesus - this really is a new low. The unit I work in makes life or death decisions based on results which are transmitted digitally. Not having access to that information could be tragic. First gers crossed it's not happening at our place.

But it was fucked up by a downed computer system.

Moderators Carlos Posted May 12, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2017 According to me sources it's coming from Russia. It's a ransomware attack that's indiscriminate, no idea how it's got onto NHS systems. It apparently exploits a vulnerability in Samba, which basically allows Windows to acccess Unix/Linux disks. Moderators Carlos Posted May 12, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2017 Not a virus, then? Erm I don't know the technical details of how it spreads, but generally I'd say it's a form of virus, specialally a cryptovirus.
Ghana White
Phone calls, hard copies of x rays they'll be able to see it out in the short term. Problem is if your hospital has gone to electronic records. That could be a real shitter. Interesting that it's not targeted they've just struck lucky. Don't know what the outcome of all this will be, just find it incredible that some cunts have done this.
maaarsh
Low level untargetted crap - embarassing but unsurprising the NHS is badly managed enough to be vulnerable to this sort of nonsense. Assuming anyone in their IT teams knows what they're doing they'll be back up and running by tomorrow morning; hopefully not too many people are affected in the meantime. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 12, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted May 12, 2017 Bit harsh that- maybe they should have their systems better protected- but let's remember there should be no need. Its cunts wanking themselves silly behind a screen who have done this; they're the ones who need bringing down.
birch-chorley
I'm no tinfoil hat man but could this be the Russians sticking their beak into foreign elections yet again? What with NHS funding being high on Corbyn's agenda He would certainly be better for Russia with his anti war stance than TM
Elson
Work for IT at Blackpool NHS, going to be here all weekend and getting a shift patten for staff to hit the effected desktops while we see what damage been done to the servers. We don't have XP here but it's hit hard
