kent_white
HMS Queen Elizabeth is an impressive looking bit of kit. Just reading that as it leaves into open water - there will only be 50cm between the bottom of the ship and the seabed. Hopefully non of the crew have put on weight :-) https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/40402153

frank_spencer
Remember seeing something on a cruise liner that docked in a Scandinavian port somewhere and the only way it could get out was to go full throttle so it sat lower in the water as it passed under the bridge. If the captain hadn't got it fast enough then it would twat into the bridge

I'm sure I read somewhere that they weren't Doesn't look like it. I read that we'd ordered nearly 200 fighters, but the order for the US military of 2,800 fighters is taking priority. That's a fucking lot of fighters
birch-chorley
Also worth noting that this was ordered by Gordon Brown's Labour government at the hight of the banking crisis Part of the big infrastructure spending stuff that was announced in an effort to rescue the economy from very likely hitting 'depression' levels I know the Tories talk about overspending now is just asking the next generation to pay for this generations mistakes but this War Ship is set to keep us all safe for 50 years. Both this generation and the next! I'm all for the government borrowing if it's for solid capital expenditure projects and not just to drive rampant wage inflation. kent_white
Right here's a question. If I had a jug of water weighing 150g on some kitchen scales - and I put 100 of rice into the water and it was suspended in the water. Would the scales register the the full 250g?
