No. Both sides have to agree otherwise any solution is a waste of time. If the technology exists then implement it during transition - you know of course, that it doesn't.

We signed a deal with the EU. It was agreed between our government and the EU - after a lot of EU concessions. This is now being airbrushed. Because our politicians cannot agree on anything we go back to blaming the EU. But we agreed this deal...signed it....as did the EU......

So Parliament has no part to play in this? Righto.

The EU can and will magically bend their rules if they see a need to.

No jobs going - just axing the production of a new diesel X Trail due to falling popularity of diesel vehicles with customers. Even Nissan have said that this decision is not Brexit related but that 'Brexit is not helpful'.

More Project Fear.

Not exactly, but pretty much my view

This has been caused by the disincentive to buy diesel cars

Obviously Brexit isn’t helpful because it means that Nissan can’t plan ahead with any certainty.

If all the entrenched fuckers on both sides would actually work productively together to ensure the best deal, instead of sniping at each other, companies like Nissan could at the very least start to plan ahead

I'm stating things from the EU perspective. It isn't their fault we are hopeless and cannot decide what it is we actually want....

It isn't their fault that we have a minority government. Even with the majority before the last GE the ERG would have been strong enough to vote a deal down, but now both wings can do so.

Beyond that, the bluff and bluster attempts at hardball come from the EU while we try to abide by the "rules", as usual. But soon it will all come to an end.

Because the EU can choose not to accept that the technology is working for ever and a day.

He seems to forget the deal wasn't agreed. The deal that used a backstop because parties chose not to go down the technological route.

If they'd listened to those that said it could be used, we could have been well down the road by now to getting practical solutions.

They're just proving the leave vote correct. That includes the nay sayers and doom mongers.

Why are you stating things from the EU perspective? Surely it’s not in the UK’s interest to give them everything they want?

whos side are you on?

Illegal immigrants will be delighted that they don't even have to risk their lives any more. Just jump in the back  of a wagon and they'll get waved through. ISIS will be ordering a fleet of trucks as we speak. Superb.

Is it really necessary for Brexiteer nonsense to be posted time and time again having been debunked already a million times?

There is no technology in operation to manage a border like Ireland/NI. The idea that its "not a problem" to not have checks and tariffs in a no deal is nonsensical. Both the EU and UK would be obliged to manage that border somehow under WTO rules to avoid a challenge on preferential trading arrangements. That has already been explained a million times. No border in the world currently under such an arrangement operates without some border presence. It simply doesn't happen.

The facts are crystal clear. Somehow we'd HAVE to check goods for standards but also under for origin to manage tariffs. There is nowhere in the world where such checks are carried out entirely away from the border with no regulatory alignment.

Interesting article on the Irish border here:  https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/02/02/twelve-reasons-irish-backstop-makes-no-sense/

Jumping in the back of a truck is the risky bit.

As for the Isis trucks, are any made over here? Be great for the economy if they were, flog them then use them for target practice for the airforce. What's not to like?

They can’t be be pleased...just like like their women...no wonder they watch shit like East is EastEnders, EUmmerdale and CoroAsian Street.

Are the lorries going to stop and drivers unlock the doors for them then?

Presumably all fines for drivers will be waived too.

In fact there'll be a new rule that they have to be driven straight to Yorkshire for training.

No, you're right. Removing border checks entirely for a while in order to avoid congestion means nothing is going to change. Don't know why any country bothers. There should be totally free movement of goods and people across the entire globe.

They'd soon stop jumping on lorries if the first stop was Yorkshire!
