I don’t know what the EU loan book is

The experts will be along presently to enlighten me

We agreed to pay what we owe on the long-term commitments we made prior to 2016, but Iain doesn't think we should. Even though he voted for an Agreement that said we would, and said it such was a brilliant Agreement that nobody should be allowed to read it properly before voting for it.

Iain Duncan Smith last year. Voted for the Withdrawal Agreement. Declared it "oven-ready". Voted to reduce Parliamentary Scrutiny of the Withdrawal Agreement. The Parliamentary party booted out anyone who wanted more time to read it.

Iain Duncan Smith 2 days ago - "The Withdrawal Agreement we signed last year sadly helps the EU.....Buried in the fineprint, unnoticed by many, is the fact we remain hooked into the EU's loan book......It costs too much & it denies us true national independence....This Withdrawal Agreement giving the EU future control over us has to go."

And?

We'd already agreed to pay our share of liabilities, TM deal included that.

So it should have come as no great surprise to anyone that it was still there.

If IDS doesn't like it, tough. It was voted through.

Correct, he's just grandstanding as usual, he's a dick

Must be your weakest, most tenuous effort yet.

It requires effort, granted, but dig down into what leaving the EU means when it comes to these migrant boat folk.

Honestly, the EU will be blowing the dinghies up for them.

A bit of give and take with France required. Continued access to our shellfish for cooperation with migrant control in French coastal areas.

Are these lot not already illegals in France.

If they are then France should be dealing with them otherwise it would seem that they are aiding and abbeting them to cross the channel and that surely breaks some international convention.

France want the UK to contribute more on migrant controls even though we have already contributed many millions to this. France have no incentive to prevent them coming to the UK unless we significantly increase our contributions and as we are now outside the EU have less obligation.

There is the problem. Major cooperation is needed between the two countries at a time when we are declaring ourselves an 'independent coastal state' in brexit negotiations. France are likely to tell us to 'deal with it then since our primary concern is France and the EU'.

Trouble is, nobody bothers doing anything if the migrants are only passing through.

Hungary for example did a Don, and closed borders with fences when this first kicked off.

Once they find a way round and into western Europe, they're on the home straight.

No proper coordination amongst the countries as they have differing views.

I don't see this as an issue with the EU per se, as its more widespread. However, its Remarkable how many of them seemed determined to get here. Even the French said some time ago that we were too soft, and its driving the demand.

Also remarkable how smugglers are able to buy, deliver and launch so many dinghies etc with relative impunity.

Virtually never buy tate and lyle, except for some of their processed products.

Did some work once for a product to help British sugar in their beet refining process. Always stuck with me.

Silver spoon!
