if countries in the EU want to buy our fish, they should meet in a moonlit cove somewhere and do some old school smuggling

I've heard the French are sending out teams under the cover of darkness to do a bit of "fish rustling" and will guide all the good stuff into their waters. They're training dogfish to do this, a bit like sheep dogs really.

A few are doing a protest today and driving their stinky fish lorries into London aren't they -  Between 15 & 20 lorries apparently......Oooh, that'll teach 'em.

On the plus side, they're contributing a bit of money to London with the congestion and emissions charges

Brexit: Fishing firms hold London protest over disruption - BBC News

I see the police have fined 15 truckers £200 each for making "unnecessary journeys"  -  it's turned out to be a pretty expensive day for them, when you also add in the diesel costs. They should have their trucks taken off them and crushed for breaking the rules

Many smaller fishing businesses particularly in Scotland rely on selling to the EU.  At the moment they cannot do this due to red tape and problems with new paperwork.

Our government did not make provision for this in the deal they agreed.  Boris says this is just teething problems. Consequently some fishermen will try and land their catch in Denmark to remain solvent.

Lovely twist to the truth. Nothing changes.

You would think the Govt would see the obvious opportunity.

We have this invisible border across the Irish Sea

What goes across the sea ?Boats

Who has boats ? fishermen

Who have missed out on the Brexit bonus ? Fishermen

Why not get the fishermen to patrol and control the border across the Irish Sea ?
Everyone is a winner.

One of the claims was that there are insufficient veterinarians to carry out the certification. Dont know the reality of this, but there might be some opportunities for young vets in decent parts of the world.

They also commented on carriers not taking mixed consignments from more than one company, because if one of them gets the paperwork wrong, they all get rejected.

This puts costs up.

The sooner the paperwork requirements are learned and bed in the better.

The fishing industry has had more than enough time to prepare for these issues - in the main, it's believed that as an industry, they massively wanted us to leave the EU, so they've got their wish. If they're not ready, then they've only got themselves to blame
