Sweep
Just heard on the radio there are still 1.6M people on furlough (as of the end of August). I'm not sure I know anybody now who is furloughed, so that number really surprised me Edited September 9, 2021 by Sweep

I was using your status to illustrate what the fat cat directors always do to avoid National Insurance and lower their personal tax. NI is for the workers not the elite. Analytics and jiggery-pokery (your trade I believe?) are partly responsible for this shitshow. I don't waste my time boning up on bollocks I have ZERO control over. I read to improve my professionalism, the rest of my time I single-handedly thrash nobby colleges on 'University Challenge', and watch Minder re-runs and Richard Osman's House of Games... The most inept politicians would laugh their cocks off reading threads like this... As would some of the most inept footballers, managers and coaches reading other threads. That's why they do it for a living and 99.9% of you, erm, don't... Edited September 9, 2021 by Youri McAnespie

People being told they have to go back to the office, are going bugger that. People have realised they'd rather have less cash and a better quaility of life (well, those that can afford to make a choice anyway) and that a lot of the extra wage was just going to support the work lifestyle. If you are looking for a job in certain sectors, you can pick and choose at the moment and if you are not getting the deal you want, then you go elsewhere. I was waiting for your humourous take on things. I'm frankly disappointed - I'd already mentally composed a humblebrag reply about being the first from my immediate family of working class folk, to self-finance my way through THREE Universities 🙁... I don't mind these threads tbh, having a read of them being much cheaper than 'Sominex' (Promethazine - also present in 'Night Nurse') during rare occurrences of insomnia. Don't bother with any other OTC sleep aids, they don't work. My 'comedy' stylings usually consist of stuff like 'Michael Gove took that Ecstasy rectally'... Much to the chagrin of PaulHanley, who tells me to 'grow up'... When there's probably eight or nine years max difference in our ages. I took your: 'Oh goodie' as in here comes the village idiot to ruin serious political discourse. Apologies. That was the whole point of it wasn't it? So employers wouldn't just make everyone redundant.... Edited September 9, 2021 by Cheese
