Fair point birch.

I'm a bit surprised that that is how rates are calculated however.

I'd have thought that it would be based upon the value of the asset- buildings, land, location etc.

Do they rates for a shop change if it has a good couple of years?

Anyway what do I know.

Rates are generally based on rateable value

I.e what would the property be rented out for

From what I can see Hotels are slightly different, based on Revenue

Rates are set every 5 years or so and this is done by central government from what I can see

I was just going off what Zico had posted, granted it might be an old quote, I assumed his position would be the same

I don't think anyone's defending Ken for non-payment, but he's got a point about wanting the RV re-assessed.

Gartside also raised the issue with the Council after we came down, so maybe it is being valued incorrectly. The author of that report from Colliers International certainly seems to think that clubs previously in the PL are harshly treated and I'd suggest he knows a bit more about these things than we do.

From what I could see of that report it was alluding to clubs recently in the Premier League, we’ve been out of it for the best part of 8 years now so it shouldn’t really have any relevance whatsoever. Certainly not as part of the last rates evaluation which was carried out recently

QPR and Norwich have both been in the PL more recently than we have and have substantially less rates to pay than us. Which would suggest (to me anyway) that our rates are higher due to our facilities and the fact we have a hotel that turns over around £7m a year rather the fact we were in the Premier league up until 2012

Surprised we havent had a 'Note from the Chairman' congratulating our away win.

Hoping hes otherwise engaged.

I doubt we'll be getting a "note from the chairman" until the club is sold and then we'll probably get a "right you facking northern cants, I've made 3 million out of you thickos and chacking those tennis balls was a facking gay thing to do! I'm off to Monaco now, so cheerio!"
