To clear up this mystery - I'm told Sam bought these shares a good number of years ago but that they were previous in a nominee's name. Changed in April, hence his name has popped up on the radar. Case solved! #bwfc

I'm pretty sure that you can't even buy Burnden Leisure shares these days.

If so, then a complete non-story. From a journalist.

Doesn’t count on Twitter apparently.

Well it doesn't really, does it? Twitter isn't an extension of your job. Whatever you think of Marc Iles, he's still allowed to post shit on his personal twitter account like the rest of us. If he'd written an article about this for the Bolton News, you'd have a point.

If you’re a welder I suppose not. If you’re a sports correspondent who focuses on Bolton Wanderers and you use that medium to communicate with Bolton fans and posting something that is potentially news, then that is different matter.

I disagree, but I understand your point.

I suspect that Iles has stumbled inadvertently onto something quite interesting. There were, and still are, a lot of Burnden Leisure shareholders who were more than a bit miffed when Eddie Davies took over the club in December 2003. This revelation may well indicate that Sam Allardyce was one of them. Within weeks of the takeover Sam had a major dust-up with Phil Gartside over how the one million pound bonuses, payable if BWFC won the League Cup Final against Boro', would affect his spending budget.

Its seemed to me for quite a while that the deteriorating relationship between Allardyce and Gartside (therefore with Davies too) must have started in earnest around about that time.

That's a bit harsh but isn't it interesting how the Bolton News has consistently avoided reporting how much Dean Holdsworth's 50p cost BWFC?

I suspect otherwise and refer you to Casino’s insightful musings earlier.

So you don't think that Allardyce was miffed at the takeover that reduced the value of his shares to zilch and put control of the club wholly in the hands of a 'ruthless businessman' - Sam's description of Edwin Davies.

If Allardyce had shares and they were devalued by the takeover (that probably saved the club) then yes, I imagine the greedy fat cunt would be perturbed.

I took issue with the suggestion it was interesting.

I see. It is just a small piece of the jigshaw but probably one that most know nowt about. Incidentally I think Iles has got his percentages wrong by a factor of ten but I don't suppose that matters much to anyone disinterested in numbers.

The Anderson out idiots out in force tonight

After Halloween night on Wednesday, it was numpty night on Thursday. I expect some of them might have had a night off last night. Its usually best to ignore them but spare a thought for the BN's Drowning Rat. He's really upset that ar' Ken wasn't keen on helping a couple of get-fat-quick bankers get fatter quicker at the expense of BWFC.

Chris, I refuse to sign up BN

The loons who argue admin would be been better than KA, what is their justification for that

Also, if we had chosen admin, what would have happened if ED hadn't written off the debt owed to him

You are right about the BN. Its a nuthouse and has been for as long as I can recall.

When Anderson and Holdsworth arrived I really did worry about what would happen to BWFC. As the months went by though it became increasingly clear that Anderson was doing all the right things and that Holdsworth was just an expensive liability that Ken would need to shake off at as little cost as possible. It proved to be one of the more difficult tasks Anderson faced but eventually he succeeded, at a cost.

Who knows what turmoil an administration might have visited on the club, but one of the best things KA has done has been to keep many of the club's permanent staff? So  I think Eddie made the right decision. I expect Eddie did too but he couldn't have been certain and it must have concerned him a lot.
