My mate who works at northern on the front line is having an absolute shocker at the minute. 3 services ran out of Blackpool today. It’s the same all over and they’ve just announced 165 daily services are axed till end of July. Can’t imagine having to get in Manchester every day. Folk are losing their jobs over this. My hotels are 50% down on last year, bookings getting cancelled all over the show because people simply can’t get here. I had to pay £50 to get home after burton away this season as there was even a bus replacement that could get me home after 9pm. Send the diggers in. Trains supposedly delayed but then leaving earlier than scheduled. One cancelled last week without even saying it was cancelled so had to get taxi home. Most stayed till the closing time of 6am and figured they could just get the train home My mate was on shift and said it was like something off Shaun of the dead. There really needs to be an inbuilt mechanism that allows the government to force these operators to run at losses until they bring the service up to an acceptable level.
