Heading to Utrecht in May for a tournament on Kings Weekend? I believe it's some sort of national holiday but know nothing about it, anyone know if with it being a day off nationally on the Monday whether going out in Dam is the answer or if Utrecht itself will have plenty to offer?

This ain't going to happen anymore is it... I've got a tournament over there on that weekend that they're definitely not going to allow.

Mean to be flying to Portugal later in May for a golf weekend which I can see being cancelled as well.

Just out of interest

Some holiday locations probably can't survive a summer of no brits and Germans

So, it's unlikely they will shut the doors, imo

Biggest risk is surely airlines having no crew

Or am I miles off and just being overly optimistic

I’m weighing up a move at Hilton Dalaman, prices are favourable

Thinking August will be the best time, should be just after we exit peak phase so better chance for flights

Difficult thing is trying to second guess what stage Turkey will be at then, if they are bang in the middle of peak phase then it’s not going to be much of a holiday. If the hotel will even be open during peak phase (that’s a big IF) then will they have enough staff and supplies for it to be a relatively normal holiday, maybe not and your unlikely to get your dough back from insurance unless it’s fully closed. God forbid your out there during peak phase and need medical attention for something non CV related and you can’t get near a health centre

Think I will leave it for now

Got a Eurocamp booked in France for September, hoping things have settled down by then

I can’t imagine going abroad will be any fun whatsoever.

Pools, bars, restaurants all so pre-occupied with distancing that you probably spend loads of time queueing up just to sit at a table in a bar with no atmosphere and a queue of people glaring at you wanting you to drink up and leave.

Pools will be closed.

Beaches will be a constant case of looking over your shoulder.

Plus you’re paying double in all likelihood.

I’m out.

The suggestion that on return you lockdown for 2 weeks is interesting

Most won't be able to so it strikes me it's to allow the airlines to charge people for flights they can't take

Why would you book the flight if you weren’t able isolate afterwards? Wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do and your own tough shit if you do?

ive flights booked for December arrive back in UK 22nd dec looking forward to 2 weeks wfh on our return over the Xmas period

I'm interested to see how they propose to move people through airports

Will it be as simple as temp test on way in then mad crush as per

And what happens if you get to the other end and fail the inbound test

But you’re point was it struck you it was so the airlines could charge people for flights they couldn’t take. If they’ve already booked then they’ve already charged them anyway so not sure how this new directive can have influence on that.

anyway
