me & the mrs looking to book somewhere in November for a week,

currently saying its fine to go but you have to stay in the resort & no excursions outside the resort etc...im not one to usually stay around the resort  and like to travel about abit but the price is exceptional for all inclusive and its right on the beach

i'm in two minds as what to do at the moment

Go for it. We normally the same and wouldn’t entertain a holiday without excursions or in a quiet resort, but bloody hell that sunshine and change of scene makes a difference.

Looks like it was already going on in Marbella last night.

When we played Athletico the lads I went with and the organiser of the trip arranged to meet some mates down in Benidorm for the weekend, me and my mate were having a ball in Madrid and the train to Alicante was good but the fun stopped then, thoroughly depressing place.

Had 3 long weekends in North Wales so far this summer since the lockdown eased.

Some cracking beaches when the weather is good. Usually head to Anglesey, but this time only twice. Rhosneigr (been a few times, decent place) and a little quiet cove called Porth Dafarch (nearer to Holyhead). Belting.

And going the opposite way, inland, drove down through Harlech (past the castle) to Barmouth. Stunning. Proper good beach. Didn't feel like it was full of holiday trash. And the town looked pretty quaint and decent enough. The views from high up driving in across Cardigan Bay with the sun shimmering on the waves - could've been anywhere in the Med.

Last weekend drove down past Pwllheli to Llandbedrog. Again, a pretty decent beach, the sea is really shallow, easily half a mile out and its still at your shins - so perfect for kids, paddle boarding, etc. Load of motorboats and jet skis off shore - youngsters having boat parties at sea - music blaring away, great atmosphere.... rich kids doing their thing!!

And of course there's the hills, lakes and mountains to explore. Had a good half day at Llyn Padarn on the lake and would've done the same at Llyn Gwynant if there'd been enough parking. Beddgelert forest has plenty to do for walkers and mountain bikers.

And if you've got toddlers - then you can't go wrong with Greenwood Forest Park.

Other half has won an award at work, the prize for which is £250 towards a trip of your choosing before the end of October - send the details on the hotel etc and they'll book it for us. Great stuff, we thought. She said she fancied Whitby or York as she's never been to the former and the latter only fleetingly. Can't grumble on a freebie but fucking hell that £250 didn't go very far for a Friday & Saturday in September. Ending up writing off Whitby at £120+ for run of the mill B&Bs and instead doing the Friday in Scarborough and then the Saturday at the Novotel in York (with free late check out until 5pm which is handy). Looking forward to it very much but bloody hell this staycation bollocks costs a fortune.

Yeah and although Thanet gets a bad press the beaches - Joss Bay, Viking Bay and even Ramsgate are lovely. Was like swimming in the med. Been really lucky this summer.

Barmouth in 2 weeks for us

Waterproofs already packed :)

it does attract the brummies, mind

Stayed in Barmouth a few years back as a base to walk up Cadair Idris, but halfway up got into a really, really thick cloud /fog & had to abandon it, but it was completely clear back down in Barmouth . There're some nice train rides from Barmouth as well !!

& the weekend before last when it was still hot, i went through Barmouth & it was absolutely heaving ( as were Llangollen & Bala)  but it may look busier because people were all  on the pavements outside the cafes & pubs.

Had to cancel a couple of short breaks in Holland and Germany due to likely quarantine on return and will be on call. Was driving to both via Amsterdam ferry.  Booked  a few days in Barmouth instead in Sept so pleased to see good Reports. There,s also sposed to be good cycles tracks. Going via Prestatyn as mother in law lives there.  Mind you I’m lucky for beaches as we live less than an hour to best Northumberland beaches and had a few day trips up there..highly recommended.

Just trying to replace our France trip with something in the U.K. for the 1st week in September

Thoroughly underwhelmed at the thought of it as I’m sure it will piss down and we will have spent top money on a tin can

I did the highlands NC500 last month great week away, the beaches along the north coast are amazing
