It’ll be interesting to see what team PP selects if Ameobi isn’t fit. Magennis is ineffective unless he has somebody to cross the ball to him, but the rest of our wingers are shite.

Other than Villa away We’ve done that once? Against West Brom away.

Cant believe how ineffective we are in getting the ball near our centre forward from the wing

A lot of it has to be down to this nonsense about playing left footers down the right and vice versa so they have to cut in. Whilst this supposedly puts the winger on his stronger foot and is designed to put the full back on his weaker foot, it actually means our wingers are turning into traffic and it also changes the angle of delivery.

Were the winger to go past his man and whip one across, you could bypass the keeper and give the strikers one to run/jump at.

We're trying to be too clever with stupid players.

It also means that the striker has usually made his run into the box, but then has to check and wait for the delivery and so by the time the ball comes in he’s jumping from a stand still position and the defender is all over him.

It’s a shite tactic for our shite wingers who should be disregarded until Ameobi is back.

I think pp got the idea as Ameobi is excellent at it. Where as Noone just runs into the full back every time.

Still worth a try, surely.

Even whipping it in without beating his man.

Quite. I saw Bournemouth score a goal recently where the ball was played wide to a man on the run. First time ball into the box where players were coming onto it. Missed the first lad but Brookes following in from midfield planted it in.

Dead simple goal, not always going to pay off, but gets the opponents having to defend facing their own goal.

Got to agree with the comments regarding crossing. You can include our free kicks and corners with this as they have been generally poor. We are definitely poorer without the delivery of Morais

Yeh that was league 1.The Postman couldn't deliver in the Championship.

Lovely fella though ,i  kinda wish we'd kept him to use as a late impact sub/last resort when we're losing.

We replaced ALF and Morais with Doidge and Wildschut for no apparent reason. As well as losing their quality (mainly from the bench), we have also lost 2 genuinely top professionals who had a passion for BWFC and represented us how we would want our players to represent us. What a waste.

Neither of them were getting anywhere near a regular starting place this season.

Maybe all 4

But the two we have won't be costing what the two we haven't were

And in our world, thats the top line

And the bottom one

in what, wages or transfer/loan fees?

you reckon Morais and ALF would collectively have cost more last season that Doidge and Wildschut will this season? not sure about that

Yeah, I do

Even take a pop at every opportunity Iles stated that Alf was right at the top end of the earners

Doidge, I'm pretty confident isn't on any more than morais, but there is the fee, which could be anything, except 1 million quid :)

Wildsschutt, admittedly, pure guesswork...just don't see him being on much, from us

November 1976 League Cup replay against Swansea on a midweek night

Absolutely fucking pissed it down

One of those games I remember like it was yesterday. Front of the Burnden Paddock. Soaked to the skin. School night. No idea why my dad would take me to the game but fair do's he did

5-1 Steve Taylor double and my mum went mental when we got back as I was dripping wet - remember my parka weighing a ton it soaked up so much water

42 years later and a similar weather forecast..............but I'm out, at a birthday do in Manc....my dear old Dad would spin in his grave at my choice.....

My first hero as a kid. I was gutted when we sold him.

Might be the same weather Saturday but there's no chance we'll score 5 in total between now and new year!
