Yep, agree with that. Stoke were there for the taking in the last 20 minutes, we had the effort but not the creativity.

He'd not have got off the bench

Every point is a big point for us and I'd not have been gambling it on the off chance

Genuine question, does that mean he also called it right at Brentford, Sheff Wed and v Leeds, or is it just that they nicked a goal and Stoke missed?

Bottom line is that players have to perform whatever system is employed

Cant really comment on Brentford or Sheff Wed because I was'nt at either game .Leeds at home was a creditable effort with the game decided on one piece of quality finishing from them otherwise tactics spot on .

Maybe we should agree to disagree.

I agree, we were good against Leeds. We were good today in the last 70 minutes, the difference being Bamford rather than Crouch. Everyone slating us after Leeds and praising us today but the performance was the same, defensively, just little of note in the attacking third.

I'm not sure everyone was slating the team after leeds

A few nobs but generally that performance wasn't seen as a bad one

Unfortunately, in this league most teams have better players than us

We are, imo, about 6 points behind where we would be if games were played on paper

So, there is room for improvement

Take a draw. But the sad thing is even if its 0-5 the fans will not voice their feelings. Instead they will slowly leave the ground.

Parky isn't gettting the sack.

Wages will be payed in Jan.

But administration is lurking in Feb.

The above will happen even if we win with a dodgy last minute penalty !!

Well i got the draw !!

Very happy with the result.

Shocked by the lack of passion from the Stoke fans. Very very quiet.

Only the one run through of Delilah during the game; which was a blessing.

Interesting question

I’d certainly draw parallels with the Leeds game and yesterday.

However, the stats do show clear differences  - v Leeds we had 4 shots and 0 on target. Yesterday we had 13 with 5 on target (more than Stoke). We also had  possession 30% more yesterday than v Leeds. (Despite still conceding the majority), which certainty relieves pressure and makes it look like we defend better.

Perhaps the difference yesterday was a result of confidence from the Rotherham win?, perhaps it was a result of the difference in confidence of the opposition? (there’s nothing really between the Leeds and Stoke players’ individual ability), or maybe it’s something else or a combination.

For me having one or two that look to get on the front foot more makes the key difference; irrespective of it being a 4-4-2 like Rothetham or a 4-2-3-1 like yesterday.

if the opposition have a modicum of worry about you, it makes life a hell of a lot easier for us at the back. Well done to PP for yesterday but I can’t help but think he should have done it way before now and needs to continue. It’s not about being polar and suddenly playing open and expansive football where we get tonked 6-2 every week, but being incrementally braver

Good post Jules. I’d go along with most of that.

Aye spot on jules.

Also Doige needs to play every game. He’ll get goals imo.

Needs get some protien in his diet mind.

As for Oz debate, McClean would have gone through him like a dose of salts.

Bang on diodge needs game time and he will get there

question is what will happen January when his loan deal is to be made permanent, will it happen?

I've thought for weeks that Doidge should start every game, we need to sink or swim with the bloke he's only going to get up to speed by playing regular. Just don't think he's lone centre forward material.

Stoke were the worst team to rock up at our place (previously Wigan) he won't last all season.

Good game yesterday. They were there for the taking and I think it came to a point 2nd half that if anyone was gonna nick it, it would be us.

I see we have now conceded less than Norwich this season and quite a few others. Sadly we are the lowest scorers though and if any reinforcements are made in Jan then priority has to be a striker and a creative type.

Saying all that i also like Doidge and hope PP sticks with him. We look a better team with him in

Crowd were very good at backing the team yesterday

I'm thinking that above all else we need a creative midfielder during January. We take one and sometimes two passes too many when shifting the ball wide. The opposition have usually congregated around the wide man by the time we've got the ball there and thus its difficult to get a really dangerous cross in. We've not had someone who can pick out a pass from the centre of the park to the feet of an wide man moving forward since Spearing. Williams, Vela, O'Neill and Wilson all have their attributes but that vision isn't one of them. The addition of that one type of player would, in my opinion, unlock more goals and not overly detract from our defensive side. To be fair, Stoke often appeared to have a similar problem yesterday - hence their failure to expose us out wide in a way other Championship sides have tended to do this last 18 months.

Having said all that I was impressed by Vela's hard work yesterday and remain impressed with Lowe as a right back.

As things stand it looks like it's between the current bottom four with Millwall and Wigan coming in to it if they go on a dreadful run. The experience of last year's escape will hopefully prove helpful once we get to April, provided we're still in the scrap.

Doidge is getting better all the time. He’s starting to look a decent player now, the goals will hopefully follow sooner rather than later but yes, I agree with Gonzo, he needs half a stone of muscle on him yet.

Good effort all round yesterday, pleasantly surprised with Grounds, he can stay in the team if he plays like that every game.

Heard 2 independent reviews, one from a Stokie (sons Uni mate) and my FE correspondent (Bolton fan).

Both said the same, 2 awful teams and an awful game.

The Stokie expected a win and my FE guy was happy with a point.

2 unbeaten but now 2 aways, both of which we can get something from.

Can we pull out of the £1m deal; hope so because I dont believe he is championship standard along with Donaldson and Magennis

Pity ALF left because he had goals in him but we have to move on and we need another player in
