Youri McAnespie
How about a place in the cold? €1500 would land you this quaint place in Veliko Tarnova, Bulgaria... https://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/property-70525862.html Current temperature in this potential shangri-la? -3c. Lovely.

Widnes Two Hats
I've bought an apartment in Hurghada, 1 bedroom thing 48SQM. 5 mins drive from El Gouna. Cost me £18K but just for the shell. Another 8K to get bathroom, kitchen fitted, Air Con, white goods, TV's, satalite receiver, pots, pans, bed, bedding a proper turnkey place. Annual maintenance is £250 which includes sat TV and utilities are £20 per month. Same as Spain but 20% of the price. So in the next year or so I shall spend summer in the UK and winter in Egypt. Couldn't buy a caravan in the UK for that sort of money. It's on the beach, has a gym, sauna, spa, supermarket, pharmacy, bars and restaurants and 3 swimming pools Only downside is that I'm likely to be murdered

Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.' I'd agree with the fearful, fatalistic apathy part.

It’s not racism it’s fact, only on WW would posting an opinion on where I would and wouldn’t purchase a property  be labeled racist. I travel extensively in Muslim  countries and have for over 20 years and have good friends who are Muslims, however I wouldn’t dream of buying a property, Christians are being murdered and vilified in Egypt and Erdogan is changing the moderate Islamic state that Turkey was towards a hard line Islamic state and one moderate Turks don’t recognize and even fear. Edited December 19, 2018 by Mounts Kipper
