Thing about Magennis is that he got 4 in 7 when he started the first 7 games, and he nearly got another against boxing day similar to the one he got v QPR

So he's shown he can get goals for us

Doidge looks like he might score but I don't think we create enough in the final third consistently enough for him to flourish

Id still play both of them before Donaldson

Aye, that's what I keep thinking about Magennis, that he was ok at the start of the season when he had a bit of service and he can also hit a ball. Doidge just looks off the pace completely but he can finish, given some service. Donaldson worked hard the other day but never looks like scoring. We're clutching at straws really - which is the best combination from a poor bunch???

Btw, was this game on red button

It wasn't advertised, so if not, why not?

Not been on here for a while - I get too depressed when we constantly lose so the issue of Red button may have already been addressed - but just in case.

Red button is for Championship midweek matches only and always corresponds with Champions League fixtures. I reckon Sky Sports are covering games simply to piss BT Sport off by distracting fans of Championship clubs from watching Citeh Scum etc.

I haven`t fully researched it but it does seem to fall the same week as Champions League fixtures. Just checked and our next midweek fixture (discounting New Years Day) is at Birmingham on 12 Feb before Champions League resumes in March so if the match is on Red Button my theory is flawed/incorrect.

Incidentally I wondered at the time why our game v Forest was played on Wednesday 24 October rather than our normal Tuesday evening. I believe Sky want 6 games on Tue & 6 on Wed to ensure full coverage so dictated Wanderers had to play on the following evening. I could easily be wrong.........

Looks like there are no more than 7 on at a time which might be the max number of red button channels

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7065212/sky-sports-red-button-championship-boxing-day-live-stream-watch-ifollow/

There's a limited number of red button channels on IPTV as well, will have to check how many

Edit: there are 9

Just don't see what Donaldson brings in the final third, no goals and don't recall any assists

Works hard but with little to show for it, I'd have Buckley in before him

So my thoughts are we are in a relegation battle? If someone else in or around that battle signs a player more effective than which we have , does this not disadvantage us?

By adding to a squad weakens them in your arguement which helps us?

And we were weakened by madine? Did he keep someone better out the team or again am I missing how precisely he weakened us?

Definitely. Because parky was obsessed with him so it absolutely weakened us. Signing pratley weakened us, it kept others out of the team, for arguments sake Vela or Karacan. Ditto Trotter. Surely you can see how signing a poor player weakens a team, i'd love Madine to go to Wigan, just look how Heskey made us weaker.

See, easy response

I liked Little but his next move isn't up, it's down

Same with all these who get 'frozen

Do you think those that dont get frozen up will ever regularly play above the level we are at now? Genuinely can't think of 1, the frozen out are no different to the chosen few in that respect but correct me if i'm wrong.

If you look at most of the players in previous seasons who’ve left the club the vast majority turn up further down the leagues.

I agree Mounts, but the point raised by casino is that the players parky doesn't pick won't find a better club, but the players he does pick also won't find another club so the argument is irrelevant in my opinion. Apart from Ameobi and Hobbs to be fair to them, championship standard payers in anyone's book.

You said it was a bizarre statement. Wigan are struggling currently. If the limit of their ambition is to sign a striker with no pace who can't shoot i'd be happy that they will continue to struggle. How their current strikers are doing isn't the point, i'd be more concerned if they signed ALF or Nugent or Billy Kee or Danny Hilton i.e. a goalscorer.

If he plays in a championship team, it struggles, simple really.

Madine can hold the ball up better than anything they (or we) currently have.Wigan currently have 3 or 4 of there first choice starting 11 out injured (mate of mine is a fan)

If they sign Marine and get the likes of Powell and Griggs playing off him, they will scored the goals to stay up. That's "simple"

We'll struggle to attract a forward/player with any proven championship goals scoring quality. So are basically going to have struggle through to the end of the season with what we have. (Very little goals in the team)

That again is "simple", I don't see how any of the bottom six signing or improving can be of benefit to us............

He didn’t exactly contribute to their promotion. I don’t think he’s scored yet for them but I stand to be corrected.

I think Warnock bought him to give the others a kick up the arse and it worked. Zohore etc started scoring again and £6m was cheap for them when you get £120m+ for going up. And it was a lifesaver for us of course.
