Just a point about damage to suspension (or not); a road with full-width speed humps adds 11 seconds per hump to a journey. If the speed hump did no damage I reckon the driver wouldn't bother slowing down.

Aye the fire brigade and ambulance service always request the cushions on the main routes through estates at least. As the fire engines and ambulances can straddle the hump and not have to slow down too much
