1977-1978 was the transition period from Flared jeans to straight legged jeans.

The punk influence helped make this welcome change

If you still wore Flares in 1978 (and many did) you were considered a bit of a div by the youth of the day.

I remember thinking my feet looked massive(size 8's)  in straight legged jeans after 7 or 8 years of wearing flares, but once you'd made the change to straight legs there was no going back.

Flares never came back in fashion - thank fook, hideous things.

Levi 501's or the even skinnier 505's were cool.

Good shout .

I'd started wearing drainpipe Lee jeans in about 77 . Most of my mates were still in flares .

The punk influence in fashion and music was most welcome after all the disco years.

Going a bit beyond 78 and terrace songs I always enjoyed a wander wander wander wanderers..wanderers ..we're wanderers to boy George and culture clubs Karma Chameleon. I seem to recall it being quite popular... I think it may have morphed into wanderers wanderers wanderers ..wanderers wanderers.. maybe the tune and rhythm was a little too subtle for the Burnden paddock!!!

Hahahahahaha!!! Absolutely

Had the big flares and the wedge shoes from Tommy Balls

Ska and Punk hit the scene and I was massively addicted. Suddenly it looked like my size 9's were a pair of flippers on my feet

Talib's straight legs and doc marten shoes. Drainpipe trousers and Royals with segs on the heels

Was mid 80s when they came back briefly in Manchester amongst casuals. I had a pair with my kappa tracksuit top!

Maybe Bolton was a few years behind

Remember a period when all the older students wore in town were flares and James t shirts

We also had a team that despite being the best in the league, took years to get promoted

Lets stop being so rose tinted

Are you for real? We witnessed some wonderful football  from 1972 - 1979, we played good stuff - even through rose tinted Ray Bans :D
