BWFC have plenty saleable assets

Any prospective owner knows this

Expect to see land development, including the car parks, some commercial building and houses

There's also maybe some land that the govt/council need to build a relief road

Plenty opportunities to recoup the investment

Think the hotel will be sold as well

Well, if our man in the City is to be believed, Bassini knows how to make money from property deals.

If he’s been interested as long as he says then he will know the score to an extent. I expect what he might mean is that he doesn’t know whether particular debts can be renegotiated on some new terms.

I have to say something does not feel right about this. It feels like there could be a sting in the tail with the EFL throwing it out or Bassini putting a zero in the wrong box somewhere.

But if he is here with some cash then it’s better than the alternative.

Ken walked in without knowing the specific debts. So I don’t see the issue

yep they had an idea but alls we heard time and time again was he unearthed something else. Then something else

would assume Bassini is talking along those lines.. he will have an idea of it being around X but will no doubt come across something else which makes it Y

way I see it is, ‘all’ current known debts will be settled. If anything else appears then maybe 90/80 or even 75% will have ended up being sorted

either way it’s better than where we are now

You just wouldn’t buy a business on that basis. Not even in the wacky world of football. That is unless you have deep pockets and long arms and don’t care. There will be an underlying reason he has said that but I can’t believe he would purchase the Club and settle all “known” debts. Ken’s situation was, on the face of it, much more opportunistic and he didn’t have intentions of relieving the crux of the associated debt upon purchase.

Anderson was putting it into admin to sell to some of the football ventures lot. So suspect it was now or never for Bassini.

Howard, Galt and others suggested that Due Diligence info can be shared/bought... Bassini may not personally have seen all of it (he may not even be capable of understanding it all even if he had) but expect others within his “team” have.

As also suggested, he may have backers, but also not unsecured... backers/funds secured against club assets... the land, car park, etc that has been mentioned...

He doesn’t look great on paper, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Opportunity to be a hero/saviour and erase his self confessed mistakes or continue down the road of red hat clownerie....

Nah. Sick of saying it.  We weren't going into administration as that would have  cost someone £3 million to fund administration. Who was paying that then???????? No fucker was.

If Ken had 3 million to burn he'd have paid the bills.

It was a buyout or bust.

Laurence Bassini taking charge?! Please. It isn't happening. Anderson's on £45k a month as ce, would you give up it up?

How was a man like that in charge of a newspaper? Can barely type.

When Bassini was asked if he was really going to pay off all the debt and responded "we'll have to look at it as I haven't had the time to do the due diligence" it set off alarm bells but I'm not sure if he's stupid and loaded or just loaded. Or just stupid. I mean who wouldn't check out anything being sold by Anderson with a fine tooth comb?

Can't wait to see what happens, especially if they publish the accounts early to baseline the purchase - and despite what Stuffy and Custard said, page 8 of the 2016 Burnden Leisure filed accounts shows us what Anderson inherited after becoming a Director in March 2016 and I suspect there's not much of it left for Bassini to buy into, so I'm skeptical but hopeful.

However, maybe Howard is as good as his word and his consortium have backed him. Or at least someone has with an agreement to take the shares when they're ready. Did Bassini promise us Premiership in 3 years before Howard said that? If so, there must be other backers. I can't remember and can't be arsed to check the timeline.

I just hope we can stop worrying about the stability of our club TBH - something that never crossed my mind in the previous 60 years since my first match at Burnden and I hope I don't have to deal with again in the time I've got left.

Here’s a post taken from The Wanderer by a Watford fan. I fear the worst.

”Ha ha.....yes.....I see you've heard the legendary safe key story.

From what you say, there's no way he has £20m to invest in your club. When he was at Watford, it seemed that he was just a front man for someone else. He had a backer. Now his family seem to be well healed, but he himself, is the runt of the family in that respect.

He talks the talk and he will promise you everything you want to hear, but it's all phoney I'm afraid. There's no substance to any of it. It became ludicrous in the end.

No doubt he'll come out with statements that he made mistakes at Watford and lessons learned etc, but a leopard does not change its spots.

As a Bolton fan, you will quite rightly hope he'll be decent and genuine and will give him the benefit of the doubt until proved otherwise. We had the same reservations but he was given every chance to prove himself, but it became clear very early on he was a chancer.

I'm amazed he's got back in football. I'm amazed the EFL would ever sanction him. He was banned for 3 years because of his dishonestly.

He was made bankrupt twice, and even changed his name from Bazini to Bassini to hide the fact he'd been bankrupt.

When interviewed, he acted like a child, trying to make up stories about events, which even with the greatest deal of naivety, anyone could see through.

He's referred to as the red helmet because our local paper, The Watford Observer, often used the same photo of him with a red builders hard hat. He got so annoyed that he threatened to sue the paper for using the same photo. So, of course, they used it even more.

You'll get used to that. He threatens to sue everyone one. He threatened to sue SkySports News as well for another trivial event.

Even the late Graham Taylor fell out with him, and called him a liar, for making up reasons for not attending a fans forum, which he did more than once. Of course, he threatened to sue GT as well. You can see a common theme here.

I wish Bolton all the best, but this guy will take you into the mire. He's really bad news. A total fantasist who has delusions of grandeur.

He wants a football club as a status symbol, so he can show his family he's not a total idiot.

My only advice is, of there is a way to stop him from taking over, take it. He's hard to get rid of. Watford were in a real mess when he left and only avoided administration and a points deduction by the skin of their teeth. The Pozzo's settled all debts and paid the HMRC. Bassini hid a lot of dept from our new owners too, so they withheld a payment for the Red Lion pub, which was part of the settlement deal. Of course Bassini sued the Pozzo's and of course lost the case, as he always does.”

Sadly we're between the devil and the deep blue sea and so any port in a storm etc.

If he's a front for someone else then at least we can hope they're loaded.  I don't like to think of the reasons why someone would choose this individual, who on past performance may be in the global top 5 of the people you don't want near your club as their public face.

The alternative may be worse still, he's not a front for anyone and he's here to loot whatever value is left in the land assets.

Of course there's a third option. He's a genius at making money from the land market and he's also a massive football fan who has decided to pour all his money into a club he has no prior connection or affinity with.

Bassini isn’t the answer we wanted, or needed. He is a snake oil salesman who has used the system and our dire situation to get himself a club.

We are safe for now but I suspect we will be in the same situation this time next year.

By allowing this Anderson has cut and run, he never cared about the club. The problems haven’t gone away but simply changed direction.

I predicted this many months ago and reiterated it since

andersons rhetoric during his first 12-18 months was - I will also do what was in the best interests of the club. Hence the reason why he claimed he’d rejected numerous tyre kickers

after that period, the fans turned on him. He slowly but surely backed away and stopped the very minimal financial support he was providing and wanted to sell to anyone. So the best interests of the club went out of the window

the majority of idiots now being negative about Bassini were also the ones who slung shit at Anderson. Campaigned for him to go, marched round the fucking stadium

now this could be a fantastic journey or a fucking train crash but the fans above may now start to reap what they sowed and the rest of us just have to go along with the ride

I was thinking the same. Hope I'm wrong. But it's difficult to turn a blind eye to what an absolute bloon he comes across.
