Take Over

The hotel stopped making a profit when it came out of the DeVere ownership, and suffered when the club lost some big events like the darts later on. On paper its a great development if marketed properly which sadly hasn't been the case for last 2 years.

He alludes to the bid being from Bassini. I wouldn’t give this much more thought. Bassini is a fantasist at best or very ill in my opinion

The Murdoch press have got their teeth into Bassini for some reason. They really ought to let go. It is akin to kicking a cripple.

or X factor early rounds laugh-at-the-loons time. Like standing at the gates of the special needs school taking the piss.

Bassini can't afford rent on his mates flat, there's fuck all chance he's buying anything.

based on what?

I am concerned that they have not completed on buying the club and it seems that is because there are other interested parties for the hotel,  I see this as 2 separate acquisitions and therefore they could complete on the club and then the hotel at a later stage if their bid is successful, that they have not completed on the club sets of alarm bells for me, and that the deal is only happening if the hotel purchase is successful.  I might be wide of the mark but with 3 weeks to the season starting and still no owner confirmed, I am worried that this might be the case.

Buying a football club out of administration takes a while. Heads of terms have been agreed. You don’t put in a £1m un-refundable amount if there are still material concerns that you won’t complete.

Chill, it will happen, stop listening to Nixon. Obviously the sooner the better as we’re getting closer to the season but it looks like there is plenty being done in the background even though the sale isn’t completed.

This is exactly my concern. If they are not completing without the hotel deal sealed, then will they if someone else gets it?

They've never said they aren't completing without hotel. The deal is clearly complex. And hotel will make it worse but I think people read too much into media reports. Especially when the chief source Nixon claims you need the hotel as it makes money - when it was last known to have made a loss.

Alan Nixon relies on people believing any shit he whips up on Twitter.

He's no nearer to the deal than you or I.

Marc Iles, for his sins, has at least taken to mainly reporting the known facts with a bit of conjecture thrown in, as a journalist should. If anything, his measured approach of late makes me think he's onside with the people closest to this and is playing things right. He's actually been good for the last couple of months and I've given him as much stick as anyone in the past.

I get the impatience, but we really do have to look at the long term picture and stop flapping about this season. Anything other than relegation is a proper bonus.

No issue with Nixon. Provides a free service and I can take it or leave it.

Think he’s being dropped some guff re Bassini mind but time will tell I suppose

overall I think he’s probably reported the most on us in the last few years (taking iles out as the BEN journo)

The hotel doesn't make any money, so why would a loss-making hotel be the deal maker/breaker on the purchase of another loss-making business?

Moreover, isn't it the case the administrators haven't yet put a price on the hotel and invited bids?

You'll be in a far more positive place if you ignore the bloke

He blocked me yesterday after I replied to his "it's a big week next week, starting tomorrow" tweet  with "you mean the week starts tomorrow?"

Do you ever get fed up with folk on the streets and pubs asking you " what's happening at Bolton " ?

I’m at the stage now where I wish they’d make small talk about the weather again or tell me I’ve missed a bit.

There's a bloke in my local who knows something I'm sure of it. I keep on asking him what's happening at Bolton and he tries to fob me off by making out that I probably know as much as he does. Ha! A likely story!

As you would expect I've got the special room ready and the van and the cable ties and a bottle of ether. I'll let you all know once the interrogation is underway and we can finally get some answers...
