Take Over

What would have happened if we hadn’t turned out a team to play Wycombe, would we have been booted out of the EFL?

Its just nagging at me about the assurances put out Thurs/Fri and the way a team of sorts was put together so quickly.

If we hadn’t turned up and played would we have lost our status and then basically been even harder to sell, so it suited someone to play at least one game whilst the so called buy out dragged on and on...

I heard that Ken changed the detail at the last minute to disrupt our preparation for the game so we couldn’t get new players in

Bury aren't playing either of their first two games

Haven't been kicked out

But are Bury facing punishment for not fulfilling fixtures like we are ?

My question is more of how real was the threat if we hadn’t been able to play, and did it suit the situation to be away from home ?

Maybe I’m getting paranoid about the take over but I can’t be the only one thinking how convenient all the announcements about “it being close to being done” coincided with the first match build up.

Because iles and Deardon know better than to put his name in the paper. Doesn’t mean it isn’t him that told them.

Iles has said previously he’s in contact with ‘the administrators’.

You miss the point entirely.

I don't doubt for a moment that Mr Appleton has briefed the press (Iles, Dearden and others) about many things during the protracted sale procedure and no doubt the press (Iles, Dearden and others) have asked if they could quote him on that - but as far as I recall has not told them that "you can put my name to that" - that's why nearly all the progress reported on so far comes from the 'Administrator' and not specifically Paul Appleton ('Pail' to his close friends apparently)

Therefore the press statement/press briefing either stated you can quote me (Appleton) on this, or a more generic 'the Administrators are saying...'

For JME to tweet that Pail [sic] Appleton has given him his 'blessing' to personally break the news of the sale and not undertake a formal announcement, or let the purchasers break the news, or even give Iles/Dearden the chance to write/broadcast a scoop - seems utterly unbelievable to me.

My guess fwiw is that Appleton may have given JME a nudge and a wink that things were all but done - and been asked by return if he could tell anyone, may well have been told 'you have my blessing' - thinking he was telling only close family and colleagues perhaps and never imagining for a second he would openly broadcast it on social media to the world!

Don't you think Iles would utterly have loved to break the news of a sale and then tell his side of the story about Ken.

I do.

Apart from the fact that he’s a prat why would he do that

Because he still holds a grudge about us stuffing his beloved Spurs years ago which is why he bought us for a quid with the sole intention of ruining the club and having not quite managed it yet is doing what he can to finish his mission? Just a theory :)

Another theory is that it's about applying pressure with a view to getting more money for the hotel in order to get paid as he's behind James in the queue. As I understand it, the FV deal for the club is a done deal and the "new bidder" that Nixon mentions is specifically for the hotel, not the club. The "new bidder" is also possibly someone played in by Anderson to up the ante because he knows that the FV business plan is based on getting the hotel as well as the club - just as Anderson himself said it was key to being sustainable when he stole bought us in the first place. I have no doubt that Anderson will go to great lengths to wring every penny out of us he can before he finally f***s off and leaves what's left of the club in peace.

If the hotel is being sold by auction it's a disaster because all you need is a stooge to force the price up and FV will be compelled to spend money that they would otherwise use for rebuilding the club/team.

Are you trying to turn WW into the Beeno Marc II?

I'm as unimpressed by this Appleton/JME business as you are, Sluffy. As for Iles, hell will freeze over before he gets round to telling the whole truth.

That's probably because he doesn't know the whole truth himself.

That's partly true. Eddie Davies gave him a wide berth and Garty and Anderson both banned him. But the main problem with Iles lies in his inherent prejudices.

He knows how much Holdsworth and Quantuma cost the club but he won't publish it. He never published how much BWFC was costing ED year after year after  year and even ten years into the job he was still telling his dumbass following that Gordon Hargreaves funded the Reebok.

Do you not think he's been better of late? Not getting involved in the daily tittle tattle reporting what he believes to be close to fact rather than lots of speculative stuff that then needs correcting? He seems in with FV but has been critical of them too...

I don't know - I sense he's learned from Anderson affair that you need to build relationships but still question things. And also report what you know rather than what you think...

I don't think he's changed his spots and don't think he ever will. He's got a new boss now who I hope is exercising a bit more sensible control but it didn't stop Iles coming out with a ludicrous and unnecessary dig at Michael James a couple of weeks ago.

Iles has done a lot of damage and any new regime must expect more of the same.

What was the dig? Missed it I think....

I guess that's just your way of saying that you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest that either theory is wrong so you're deflecting on to any easy target rather than accepting that until the facts come out it remains a possibility. Are you Sluffy Mk 2?

In early 2016, PBP came up with c12m to help keep the club in business; 6.5m for the car parks and a 5.5m loan secured on the hotel lease. The problem was that the existing lease was virtually worthless so the terms of the lease were altered so that it was worth something and the 5.5m loan could go ahead.

A fortnight ago, Iles, echoing his dimwitted friends or associates at the ST, decided to have a go at MJ sneeringly describing the new lease as ' a so-called ''commercial arrangement'' '.

So when two businesses re-arrange a lease it isn't a commercial arrangement?

What would you call it

I'd call it a 'commercial arrangement' not a 'so-called commercial arrangement'. The additional unnecessary words were plainly a gratuitous attempt to denigrate MJ and PBP.

Could be read the other way, could it not, that he was essentially saying it was MJ helping the club out?
