Liverpool fans suggesting a pre season friendly against us in July to help us raise £400k

Nice tough, it’s a bit like Live Aid

Hopefully they don’t come on here and read the ‘today’s game’ thread

Nice touch if true

We will have to swallow our pride as from now on its poor bolton & the bitch of the north west

I’d rather give it back to Anderson.

On another note, a family member heard the following accounts this week of recent events. I can't verify directly so on an anecdotal basis...

One guy has a commercial cleaning business and had the contract for BWFC. He got to the stage where he was waiting for payment on the day before his cleaners were to go in before allowing them to continue.  When he asked KA to pay on a regular basis he was 'sacked' and some of his staff were taken on by the club to continue the job. He subsequently got a somewhat sheepish request from a former employee asking if he could spare a bag of mop heads  because the ones they were using had worn out and they weren't allowed to get new ones.  Of course one could argue that the mop heads were all needed on the pitch but that's another story...

The second concerns the poor guy who fitted new carpets in the platinum suite and when he presented his bill for £30k was told that he could have a box on the half-way line that was worth the outstanding amount. He made the not unreasonable protest that he had staff to pay, but that didn't avail him. Sadly his business has now gone under.

30k is a massive amount to be paid on completion

I think the first mention of a strike/non payment of wages was 2 months before KA came in.  Was just reading some of the older threads and we went through all this shit then, HMRC winding up order, wages not paid...

That's reasonable.

I'd argue making a rational assessment of his ability to manage in the championship is difficult given the conditions he's operated under, the likelihood is that no-one here has a full picture of how bad they've been until perhaps  he writes a book about it. Time may tell a different story, if he goes on to success elsewhere then some of the people pointing the finger at him may feel differently.

However the last point you make is a valid one. He's lost too much support and he's too associated with the misery of the last season in particular for any new owner to continue with him if they want the bounce from a fresh start. My guess is he's probably happy to go as well, the club has been a basket case for a long time now and isn't helping anyone's career prospects including his.

What still gets me and one reason why I'm on this thread wanting to talk about the finances and not this subject which doesn't belong here, is that there's several of you that are happy to abuse the man on a personal level because you've not enjoyed the football on offer. Here's a fucking newsflash, no-one has enjoyed the style of football on offer, but some don't use that as an excuse to call a guy trying his best in very difficult circumstances, a cunt. This when you have the very definition of the word owning the club and making the decisions that undermined PP and everyone else in the process?

The fact you're doing this as he's giving his time to go in and help the administrators and the club despite he and his staff not being paid since February is one more reason why he deserves at least a basic level of respect, whatever your opinions of him as a tactician. He's conducted himself well throughout despite being under immense pressure. I'm grateful for his efforts for the club during his time here and I wish him well in his next role.

If you can point out any personal abuse from me I would be surprised.

He also managed at this level I think with Hull and Charlton.

First three paras of my post related to your post, not the last two. Sorry for any confusion.

PP has had it easy from the fans, because there's an understanding of the shit he has gone through.

Aye, I'll be disappointed more than angry if he's still him come August

Saw an interview on the news the other night with him about the current situation, whilst he was doing a cycling fund raiser for Stephen Darby, it was hard to think "fuck off Phil"

I think you're right. Wouldn't be surprised if he was incredibly frustrated by Ken's antics too.

That doesn't excuse the ridiculously negative ethos on the pitch.

None of us would be critical if we'd gone down whilst at least appearing to try to win games.

I can't vouch for that amount, the story was passed on second hand and I'm wary of details being subject to inflation etc via the chinese whispers effect.

The commercial cleaner guy is legit though, he was talking to my family member directly and we share a mutual friend.

If we had an owner with money and a fair few million to spend, would you want Parky spending it and building a championship side? Nah. Not at all.

But for a scrap against the odds - I think he's pretty good and proved it here. Last season nobody was saving us with that mess. It went on from pre-season all the way through, but much was kept behind the scenes. The BM fiasco - that Parky had to intervene in was far wider and more problematic than has been publicly admitted to.

Anyhow - Parky is good at working with limited resources and trying to find ways of scrapping through. If the Chinese rock up with millions then I think rightfully he will go as his decision making on bringing players in and building something coherent is certainly not the best we could get in that scenario.

If we're battling for league one survival though with no money and a limited squad - I'd say we have the best bloke we'll get already here.

What's the deal anyway with Parkinson's 1 year rolling contract, does it mean he can go now without any compensation?

Thought it meant Parky always had 12 months left on his contract and it would only finish if both Bwfc and him both agreed to terminate it, I'd imagine Parky would be due compensation as he is unlikely to want to terminate his deal, I might be way off the mark though.

Administrator can cancel contracts in the real world - not sure how it happens in football

No doubt Parky is a top bloke .Players never really gave up on him they were just below par.The shitstorm off the pitch cant be ignored even though the football was turgid for most of the season.Cant see him continuing though as we desperately need a fresh start however past experience has taught us that things might not get better with a new regime.
