waffer cup 07
That's rich a Preston fan saying Leeds have poor home support for a club of their size.

Loads come crawling out of the woodwork. You'll obviously loose a few due to relegation, but a decent amount do stick around...... just look at Wigan for example. It'd be interesting to compare the crowds of PNE, Bolton, Blackburn and Burnley, if none of the clubs had ever been in the Prem, but spent a decent amount of time together at the same level. Good point that to be fair. Huddersfield be one to watch on that score. Anyway sod the crowds statto you'll awaken Malcolm to come on with some statistics if your not careful. You lot need to give us a helping hand on Saturday we must be due a dodgy penalty or a sending off in our favour at some point in a decade. Seasons in top flight; Bolton 73 Preston 46 Bit unfair as we've had more seasons in the top flight. Better one; 1889-1961 Bolton 18,654 Preston 15,340. Seasons in top flight; Bolton 55 Preston 46 Still a bit unfair. Have to go back a way to even things up; 1889-1925 Bolton 14,145 Preston 10,193. Seasons in top flight, Bolton 28 Preston 28. gonzo
I just don’t get the attraction of our place for a big jolly. It must shit for an away fan. There’s never any trains and you have to walk past the ground to the nearest and only pub. Preston on the other hand is a belting away... I live in Preston and always have pre-match drinks with some PNE mates for both games. Spoilt for choice in Preston and am out for 12 hours usually. Home game means Coast to fucking Coast , or Frankie & bastard Benny, with one poor designated driver.

Not a great deal of difference in it really. Don't think you'd find many North End fans who wouldn't mind admitting that you's are a slightly bigger club. How do we both stack up against Burnley and the Plastics?....if you can be assed working it out like.

I would imagine it's a similar story at a lot of northern football grounds, i mean the ones that haven't relocated to a new stadium.
wakey
Attendances are a decent way of judging the old "how big a club are we" given it kind of builds in success and fan base. Founder members are a bit disadvantaged as attendances for the first decade or so were pretty shite. For anyone interested, here's our average attendances and rank split into 3 periods - the first decade or so, up to abolition of maximum wage and since. 1889-1899 average 7,000, rank 9th 1900-1961 ave 21,168 rank 15th 1962-2018 15,090 rank 29th
