In modern times when was the last time a professional football club got wound-up never to be seen again? From what i remember Middlesbrough came close in the 80s. Bristol City before them. A few close calls recently but no one has actually gone

I may be wrong but i don't think it has happened.

If you mean disappeared, that's more of a challenge

But I'm pretty sure clubs have been wound up and started again as a new entity

Newport and Aldershot, maybe?

Hereford?

Or more controversially, Rangers?

Thats what Im saying. Winding up orders are hardly a story these days. Middlesbrough reinvented themselves in '86. Leicester went through this winding up malarkey, and i think Southampton did too.

You aren't just stepping into the Northern Premier League or even the North West Counties, it's arrogance beyond belief. There are properly run clubs all the way down the pyramid, the FA give zero fucks that you used to be Bolton Wanderers. Applications for NWCFL have already gone in, it will be over subscribed. Some clubs in areas that aren't as densely populated as the Manc/Liverpool area have started at this level (9/10). We'd be looking at 11 or 12, eg Eagley, Turton, Chew Moor Brook etc.

Workington Town is a rugby league club. Third Lanark are gone, read the Hi Hi book.

Yeh you are right but Workington did have a football league club which some opposing clubs did refer to as 'Town' on their programmes however Workington Afc did not refer to themselves as town

Anyway they are alive in the seventh tier apparantly last club to not be re-elected to the football league .No financial shenanigans just a steady decline. They did once beat the dingles 5-1 at Ewood in the league cup .

Just looked and theres a good 10 teams above us who have done the admin thing

A couple more than once

So next time our snowflakes get all mard, maybe I'll remind them of that

surely the problem here is that all these clubs who went into admin and are now in the PL just make folk think that admin is a good option now

still

it's clubs like that which give me hope that as shit as it is now, it won't be forever

Been going on for ever this sort of thing; just checked and didn't realise how quickly Accrington (the founder member) disappeared.

As did Accrington Stanley many years later.

And the first ever northern working class FA cup winners didn't last long either...
