Swan cellar

Used to use that room upstairs at the Swan about the same time 80/81, there was a DJ on and was a bit of a "Disco"

I remember David Bowies Ashes to Ashes being number around that time.

It was £1 to get in and that included a pastie + it stayed open later than all the other pubs in the area

We also used to drink cans of Breaker.

Big Joe Hubbard was one of the bouncers

Happy days,

Happy days,

D'yu reckon these types of post will happen in 20 years...

It was £2.00 a pint and Alice Deejay was in the charts.

Young Bolton lads were going all the way to Wigan to get off their tits at the pier and the wanderers were flying high in the prem.

Swan cellar was full of Grebs. Happy days!

Great place. A few years later we used to go to Sparrows or in to Manchester to Jilly's. I seem to remember we also used to end up at some Nightclub in Leigh of all places (normal club not rock) drinking very cheap cans of Colt 45. Bolton used to be a great night out. All I hear or read about the Town Centre now is it's a shit hole and you do well to avoid getting a glass over your head in most places. It would be good to know if this really is the case, or if it's still as good as back in the 80s/90s. There used to be a lot of decent pubs in the Town. It's a shame that so many have shut down.

I may have half a dozen vague memories coming together, but was Joe Hubbard the bolton fan who seemed to always have a wanderers tracksuit top on?

I don't recall him wearing a Wanderers tracky + don't think he followed the footy. He was a Sharples fella, Dark curly hair and usually had a beard, he was very thick set and had a "presence" about him - lost half an ear in an incident at The Swan sometime in the 80's.

We always found him firm but fair. No longer with us sadly

You can still have a cracking night out in Bolton TC.
