Plantar fascitis

Mate, it's the worst thing I've ever suffered with - fucking agony. Just keep doing calf raises & stretches whenever you can. I did loads of stuff that the guys above have mentioned but the biggest game changer was when I started wearing the stiff insoles. I had some prescribed by the NHS specialist but found the PRO 11 ones the most beneficial - Groupon sell them at less than half the Amazon price. If it is definitely PF,  then I don't think there is any set period of time that you can expect it to go. Mine lasted around 12 months but I had a friend who's problem cleared up in around 3 months. Good luck.

Onto it!

 Thanks!

Had it now for 2 weeks, seems to be getting worse.

but, keeping going, stoically

How is yours, R?

Sore as buggery.

I resemble Juncker when I first get up. Wobbling around.

Get going and manage. After a while on my feet it gets painful again and I rest up a bit and raise my feet. Using the RICE.

Got some new shoes for working in with more arch support, though they are quite firm.

Doing the stretches etc and hoping it will ease. I've also been recommended a podiatrist in Bury which I may try if it doesn't start to improve.

Since this thread started mine has started to come back

Maybe it's psychosomatic

Hobbling around for a good couple of minutes every morning

Not stopped me from running but def getting back into those stretches

You're lucky, couldn't even envisage running at the moment. Did a seven mile walk a few weeks back and that was bad enough. Definitely been a bit worse since.

You awake yet?

Just about feel normal now :D

Deffo got sciatica or something similar. Every time I have a mega heavy day at work I start with a dull pain in my lower back that ends up shooting down my thigh and makes my knee swell up.

Fortunately my mum is a cancer nurse and I know a shit load of crack heads :)

Doesn't sound like sciatica to me mate but could be wrong. The knee swelling says summat else

Back of thigh? Side of thigh? Front of thigh? Learned from physio that location of pain tells you whether it's a disc problem in your back or muscular

Next time I'm on the Fylde on a bike ride I'm happy to donate my TENS machine to you that bolty recommended. Doesn't solve the problem but fuck me it doesn't half help with the pain. It was a life-saver

All down front of thigh. Knee swells up like a fucker and can’t bend it proper. Always starts with a shooting pain in lower back and hip.

Nailing the gym and work is obviously not doing me any favours but it’s strange how it comes and goes.

A dose of Andersonitis.

Just when you think it might have gone, it keeps nagging back at you.

Not joking pal but leaning your knee/front thigh on the ladder?

Good point. Sometimes stand for a while on rungs when hedge trimming. Knees do ache after where you've pressed them against the ladder, particularly when stretching over. Don't do it often enough to say whether it causes anything more long term.

Flip flops for two weeks

Telling you chaps, cured mine

Strange one that because its flat non impact absorbent  soles that normally contribute to plantar-fasciitis, that and lack of warm up / down.

Worked with this condition for years and had in myself on and off. Stretching and the exercises demonstrated in this thread are all the right advice.

Take regular  hot & alternate cold footbaths, if pain gets unbearable at night try 400mm Cuprofen. I highly recommend Hoka neutral trainers for this condition but ensure you order a size larger than your normal fit as they are a small fit.

Just been for my first physio session. Being referred onwards for inserts. Arches are flattening somewhat. Stretches, ice etc to continue, including a new toe stretch!

And?

Bugger

In fairness, the frozen bottle of water rolled under the foot does help. One of my heels was swollen and it helped take it down.

Doing the stretches in the morning too; it is a little easier than it was, and I'm working/walking more than before. Just stiff and sore once you've rested up.
