He likened himself to Oswald Mosley so I would say that is fairly far right?

He also claims he was a communist/Anarchist/Libertarian and an Eco-Facist which are all left wing. The only thing we know for certain is he's a whack job.

He also said he was influenced by the computer game "Spyro the Dragon", and made many references to alt-right internet gibberish. If you are taking anything in his 'manifesto' seriously, you are a fucking idiot.

I’ve just been reading about the gun laws in NZ and they appear to be quite relaxed.

How relaxed are they mate?

I wouldn’t really know about that really not looked into it,but there are areas where hunting is popular and guns are bought for that, but it’s nothing like the US

NZ seems to be a tolerant, easy going country which makes this attack more shocking. Have there been any problems from, or ill feeling towards, the muslim population ?

& i certainly won't be watching the video.

No bad feelings it’s very tolerant with all races really it’s a very big shock that it has happened.

Aye, the "manifesto" was that of a mass murdering Walter Mitty.

You mean like the U.K.? Australia? America? France? Spain? There’s so many easy going countries, some may to soft?  However if you have a few fruit loop who are willing to kill no matter what it doesn’t matter how chilled the country is.

Where did we get to with all this stuff? I’m sure we agreed that when a Muslim nutcase comes out and kills people then the Muslim world should come out an apologies on behalf of them

Likewise when a white Christian nutcase does the same

Whos doing the public apology on behalf of white Christians this time?

When an atheist does it, I'll apologise.

An aid to what?

To demonstrate that there are extremist nutjobs across all communities, not just the Muslim ones

Events this last week can act as a reminder that there's no particular race or religion out to get folk - doesn't matter if you're Muslim, Australian or Irish, the not rights are everywhere, but they aren't representative of the greater population

As bad as this was today why do only certain atrocities get reported on?

Thousands if Christians have been butchered in Nigeria in the last 12 month, how many reports in the press? What about the Filipinos killed during mass in the Philippines earlier this year, again hardly any coverage.

Why are some deaths worthy of mains stream headlines and others hardly a mention?

Yeah - right on. Why should these dead Muslims steal the limelight?

Don't shoot the messenger, what part of the term "Whack Job" don't you understand. The perpetrator is clearly a nutter!

We've hardly seen much coverage of the slaughter of Rohingya Muslims by the Buddhist Myanmar government over here.

Our news tends to deal with only a few select countries, unless a British person gets caught up in the chaos. So sadly the actions of horrific groups in places that don't directly affect us aren't given the coverage they are due.

It's the western world innit?

If it aint in Europe or where folk speak English the press don't really give a shit.

Lived in Christchurch for 3 years, they've been through so much the last few years so this another kick in the teeth. The irony is Chch has a very small discreet Muslim population.

Probably the best thing about living here is the lack of fear about attacks like this. NZ is so isolated I think most assume they're out of reach. Such a shame that's likely to change.
