F1 is back

Just watched a 1993 (I think) race from Hockenheim. Derek Warwick had a 200mph crash in the wet in the morning warm up. Destroyed the car and ended up burying upside down in a gravel trap. No real roll bar, no halo, and you could see his head hit the gravel as the car entered upside down. Went to hospital for an X-Ray, “bit of a stiff neck”, and went out and raced later on. Fucking hell

F1 from the 70' till the 90's was mental dangerous.

Rush and Senna are both excellent films.

Those cars that Hunt and Lauda raced look absolutely tiny now compared to the current generation. Little to no protection.

He could be saving face, but that looks a little like he may not continue?

I think his level has dropped. He's still very quick, but the judgement seems to have slipped. Too many errors, maybe he's been trying too hard to respond to the pressure from Leclerc?

I think Ferrari will be stronger without him, which is quite a turnaround.

He’s a father now you must look at it differently. All the money in the world and continuing to fly round a track risking his life when he’s got kids. He’s an all time great and nothing left to prove.

I reckon Lewis will beat Schumacher record and bow out as well

Ha I did as a kid. Knew it rang a bell

Scalextric > F1

If you put the plastic crash barriers up around the outside of the bends, you could sling the outer car more quickly around them, and the barriers would prevent the back end swinging out and flinging the car off the track.

Still enjoy a game but not done so for a few years as the lad has got older.

Haha. Didn't help that I tended to whoop his ass. :)

Might be different now- got loads of extra track from another donated set too- might give it a go at weekend and see what the dogs make of it.
