That was simply superb.

Roy creaming Smith for for 3 sixes in a row was divine.

cannot fucking wait for Sunday

One thing I don't get, Wimbledon, grand prix and the cricket final on one day

Do folk not talk when planning schedules

I'm pretty sure it's been Wimbledon, the open and f1 before now

No, I'm pretty sure the Open has always been later

All of which doesn't matter; Cricket comes first

Might do a bit of split screen

You cant pass up an opportunity like that.

Get there.

And what a truly wank decision to give Roy out. The umpire let himself be bullied into giving it.

IMO Bairstow threw the review away that would have saved him. Get VAR in

Resisted the temptation to comment up til now as I don't want to jinx 'em.

Was at a corporate do at last Saturdays AFL Western Derby. As soon as the 9 I didn't know heard the 'pommy' accent, they were into me about the cricket.

As you might expect, stiff upper lip, one raised eyebrow and a "What the fuck are you blokes on about? Do you have no idea of strategy? This is all part of the plan to get the route to the final we wanted and it doesn't make any difference who we play, we'll win it".

Loud guffaws but, by the end of the AFL match where I cleaned up the $120 ($10 a man in, closest margin takes the pot - I predicted the Eagles by 100 points - they won by 91. Next nearest prediction was Eagles by 37), their tune had changed a little (and we were all shit faced by then!) and they were asking me to do their future AFL tipping for them from then on.

Unsurprisingly, I have not  been able to contact a single one of them (except my lad and the Burnley lad who was there) since we stuffed them on Thursday!

Bookies down here put up 1.55 for an England win on Sunday. Had to have some of that! Rate them around a 1.30 shot?

NZ hugely on top here. This is not balanced. At all. Anything over 250 and they are huge favourites. Nobody has won a game chasing at Lords. And NZ bowlers will suit this pitch hugely.

This is the WC of wickets and England don’t look like taking any. On a pitch where conditions have favoured the quicks. Apart from Woakes the bowling hasn’t been very good.

England used their magic performance in the semi. This feels really flat so far.

Important. I still think first ten overs we needed at least two gone. Got to restrict them to under 250 here. Once it gets over that statistically NZ big favourites.

Lords was always a concern. It doesn’t suit the length of Archer and we have a tendency to bowl two foot too short.

If we win it’s going to be heroics with the bat I think.

Kind of how I read it, except that NZ are just looking to get some kind of total to defend.

250 is unlikely to be enough to test England.

Easy to get carried away and assume on the basis of the last couple of months that one day cricket is a bowlers game and England will be powerless to chase anything.

I expect NZ to bowl well, and if England bat poorly they can defend a low score. But if England bat well than 250 is still a low score, same as it was 2 months ago.

3 down.

Some flatness yes, especially in the crowd, but stop being so negative.

Bowling not the absolute best, but NZ never been greatly on top because run rate quite low despite few wickets.

Now plunkett has got another, England doing pretty well.

Can't destroy everyone like Australia and got to stick with em.

I’m with them. It comes across critical but it isn’t. It’s just circumstances. Little bit of luck missing first ten. Losing the toss. Frustrating more than anything else.

However I’m sticking with anything over 250 being very difficult against Boult and co...I hope I’m wrong. I thought Edgbaston would suit us against the Ozzie’s. But felt that Lords did play into NZs hands. We still have a great chance but we’ve just got to remember that chasing in WC finals is a lot different to a chase in a bilateral.

4 down. 250 still well on but looking good not to be chasing anything over 300 now - hopefully much less.

Oh dear, if they hadn't spunked away their review
