Site Supporter Steejay Posted April 24, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted April 24, 2019 Just found out that one of my lifetime friends & Bolton fanatic has died. Some of you from the Manny Rd paddock will know his face from years ago. He was the owner of Athertons Fruit & Veg & worked his wotsits off all his life. He's been in corporate for a while now but I've been in some proper scrapes with him in the past. A veteran of the Pisa expedition too. So many stories about him... No, he's always owned Athertons Fruit & Veg since he took over from his Dad. They were next to the Odeon before moving across town, now on the corner of Blackburn Rd & the Valley. He was mates with Ivan (who worked as a driver for Howarths on the market), Winny, Boney (Horwich), Dolly.
