Stuart Whittaker. Remember a match against Luton at Burnden when he looked like a world beater, then disappeared without a trace.

Remember him being v disappointing in a game at Macc away (league cup maybe?)

was class in the reserves

He only played for us 3 times and had gone by 1997 which was when Macc came up. I do recall one of the three being when we had a penalty shoot out against Norwich at Burnden.

Could have been when Chester were there but I’m sure he played for us at The Moss Rose

Edit: Maybe it was a pre-season friendly?

I think Scott Taylor did ok for a while with the Wirral rats

I remember listening to commentary of Tranmere v Wolves about 20 years ago where the crowd were singing "There's only one Scott Taylor". Truth was there was one on each side.

Must have been a pre-season game as Chester moved well before Whittaker came through. In terms of how long he played in the Conference, he’d probably be considered a success when compared to a couple of the great white hopes of recent years who have dropped much further down.

Weird how old music takes you back to football days.

Just heard turn it on again, by genesis, reminded me of a white invasion of Oldham, drew 1-1 but Simon stainrod was tipped as the next George best. Played that day and was sold to QPR shortly afterwards and then slipped into obscurity.

OAFC v BWFC ,, omg that used to be a regular, then seemed like light years away.  Funny old game.

Jamie Thomas, Welsh striker, was really highly thought of but never got a sniff. Ended up at Burnley but Christ knows where he is now

Sent to Ayr on loan, played 3 games and got sent back.

Burnley released him 12 months ago and he's not a pro anymore as fas as I know. Think he just went home to Blackpool.
