Locals a bit odd until they get to know you and I ended up spending some great times in various pubs and hostelries is some very quaint little villages. Always liked it and have always thought that if we ever came back to Blighty, we would probably set up camp down there somewhere. Reet, I'm sold. Going to look for a holiday in the area at some point. Plenty of decent fishing too from what I understand.

Get much better weather n all. I like a few places in N wales too - Conway, Nefyn, Absersoch. Couldn’t live there until retirement though. Not metropolitan enough for me at this age My auntie has lived in Poole/Ferndown since the early 80s. They stayed there even after my uncle got a job in The City so it must have something going for it.

Dr Faustus
I cant wait to get away from the crumbling red brick of LH estates... I've lived here all my life, and barring a couple of folk I wouldn't miss a soul. With the lad training so much, we are contemplating Padiham etc, but may well be out of the frying pan so to speak... We know he is unlikely to be there in ten years, so wouldn't use that as a reason for moving; seems nice, and would shave six hours a week travelling time

Sweep
I've lived down here in the Shires for nearly 25 years now. The village I live in now, I've lived in for 15 years and I love it. Loads of countryside with plenty of walks, a lovely river going through the village, a local club (for local people) a boozer, a nice little town only 3 miles away for when we need to do a bit of shopping. No scutters or immigrants, and I can get to that there London on the train in about 30 minutes. I'd be surprised if we ever left here, if we did, it would probably be to move to France

It’s better to look what you have than haven’t got. Also a big believer that people make places.

Following on from the 'our town's crap' vibe on a few threads. Where else would you live if money was no object - in the UK only though? I fancy the Pembrokeshire Coast, only problem is a dearth of big cities or towns nearby and the Welsh. Moved to a village on the outskirts of Tenby 5 years ago from Blackpool. Best thing I've ever done. You soon get used to the slower pace of life. A lot family's on my road have all moved over from different parts of England. So many cracking beaches too. Feels like I'm on holiday most of the time. The lack of big towns don't bother me at all, Carmarthen is only 30 mins away, Swansea 1 hour (never been) Cardiff about 1 hour 30 great City. Found it difficult to find work down here though. Oh and after 5 years I now hate the Welsh, never bothered me before.
