Pride march

No problem with it. Colourful and fun. But the outrageous campness of some is something I struggle with. When some bloke is bouncing around glittered up and wearing nothing other than a cheese wire thong in front of watching family's, I wonder if it's really acceptable? Is it fun exhibitionism by carefree souls? Or something bordering on tasteless and far away from what the march was originally about?

Like Trade Unions, is the job/ the fight now won?

Has it become just another excuse for a piss up and for do-Gooders to prove their rightonness?

Leave them to it as long as they're not hurting anyone. If you're worried about your kids being exposed to semi-naked people, don't take them.

I agree

Who gives a shit that somebody is queer, why do you need the need to have a march, it's 2019

You'd have to ask someone who's 'queer' for a proper answer. I'm guessing they'd cite examples of discrimination they're still subjected to on a daily basis, in 2019.

there's no discrimation anymore, nobody gives a shit. Imagine a straight march, it's a complete waste of time

Don't waste your time then. Just don't go.

"There's no discrimination any more"? What are you basing that on?

I'm not, although I have been to loads in the past, I think it's a great day out in Manchester, there's just no need for it, have a jolly boys weekend or something

And my comments about discrimination is based on nobody gives a shit, not anybody I know do you know anybody who is anti gay?

Yes. Nobody I hold in much regard though, thankfully.

Unless you're part of that community, you're not really in a position to say "there's no need for it". Just leave them to it. What's the problem?

I've got loads of friends who are bandits, I don't treat them any different than anyone else I know and they don't treat me any different because I am a hetty, I'd choose your friends carefully Cheese, but the majority or the country are with me, i.e. they don't give a shit therefore no need for pride. If anything the people on the march are asking to be treated differently because they are gay

I really don't understand what you're getting at.

You keep saying that, but some people do. Some people in prominent positions of power do. Our government is propped up by a party that openly expresses homophobic views.

Maybe you should go to a pride march and tell them they're wasting their time.

Why do gay folk feel the need to display their sexuality on the streets?  I’d feel uncomfortable taking my child to such an event, not sure why councils feel the need to promote it either, and if public money is spent on these types of events I’m also not in favour.  No issue with any folk of any sexual persuasion but just do not see the need for any such events.

Don't go then. That's your personal problem solved.

I think there is an issue. I do see how people get offended by the actions of a small minority. This increases the likelihood of the majority getting shit.

It is ok saying do not go there then. But that attitude again fuels the haters. ‘If a heterosexual couple were so extreme it would not be tolerated’. And they are probably right. Public decency is the same no matter who is watching or how is acting out.

100% correct. Any lewd behaviour by any sexual persuasion should result in police intervention, doubt that happens at gay pride.

What lewd behaviour have you witnessed at a gay pride march?
