The striking seniors

Didn’t post this last night as rightly it was all about those young men that played

But, I’m going to play devil’s advocate

Think it’s odd that the seniors ALL refused to play yesterday yet last week it was only Magennis.

Lowe has been heralded for weeks.

i wonder if there’s more than meets the eye to them not playing yesterday. I don’t mean an event that’s not connected to the current saga, but a specific part of it that’s led to the action.

just seems a spectacular u-turn relative to last week...Parky avoided any questions on them in his interview so that didn’t give any clues.

I dunno, but I’d like to see if we find out before we decide we don’t want to see any of them again.

Also, as amazing as yesterday was, even if it’s not “the strikers”, let’s not kid ourselves that yesterday’s squad can compete in this league for a full season

To give context; you’d normally have 2-3 players from an age group have “any” career in football; never mind this...

I haven't been keeping track. Are they getting paid yet?

They’ve been paid as much as the situation has allowed.

Theres also been an issue with the PFA loan repayment.

Theyve also been paid a hell of a lot more than the lambs they put out to slaughter yesterday the massive shithouse wankers.

Like Jules said; wait until more details come out.

Emotion says bollocks to them, but the reality says those kids can't manage a full season without reinforcement.

If that means some of our current lot coming back in, then any antagonism towards them could adversely impact the team as a whole.

That said the defence was good yesterday, a bit more power and strength further up the pitch and there's plenty to work with.

As pointed out above we don't know the reasons why, so let's see what happens.

I don't think it's wise to punish the seniors for throwing the young lads under the bus, by asking they get thrown under the bus every week.

Great day yesterday, the only negative is that some may be tempted to think that can happen regularly with this team.

This is a time for pragmatism not principles.

Also add i know these lads couldn't complete a season but its going to have to be pretty massive for me to forgive the lads who didnt play yesterday. For me it proved we need a complete Senior reset. too much has gone on and there is too much ill feeling. We need to sign lads who haven't been here to start again. if it means we build from league two so be it.

Nobody thinks that. People are just pleased to finally have some pride again.

Think we only made 1 sub yesterday and that was to bring a 16 year old on.

The kids can not play 2 games a week. We need some old heads back.

We also need to know why they did not play yesterday after playing at Wycombe. What changed ? Need the full story before lynching anyone.

I suspect the PFA might have stepped in regarding the seniors not playing, one out all out scenario.

I must admit that was my thought too, that the PFA had instructed them not to play.  It'd explain Parkys reticence to talk about it in what was an otherwise frank interview.

I was of the impression that whilst they have had some money they are still owed at least two months

Fuck knows what are Insurance situation is like at the moment, but given the shambles of everything else I’d be very nervous of playing, getting injured and coming away with nothing

One poster on here (Matt) kids go / went to school with Mcgennis’s kids. I’d imagine he has pulled them out and moved the family to Hull now, I can understand why he would want to to sort his future out before the kids go back to school in September.

Whilst we are emotionally linked to the club over decades our family and kids would still come first, these players have been here a year and been paid late or not at all for most of that time. If I put myself in their shoes I fully understand their actions

IF this takeover gets sorted soon, we will badly need the handful of seniors that we have left. I think it’s counter productive for us to throw them under the bus, especially when we don’t have the full facts

No idea how true this is but i heard it was all down to insurance. The loony with his injunction means the club could yet get liquidated. Knowing this would have invalidated their insurance.

While it sounds plausible, why would the ones who played be any different

I don't expect you to know, it just seems odd

Any business that goes into admin unless it has a pre-pack could be liquidated?

As such this would mean that no footballer could play whilst in admin due to insurance issues?

There is evidently something amiss here and a story will come out I’m just not sure it’s this one personally

Would Lowe and Murphy have added anything yesterday?

I think that's the point I was trying to make before - I'm struggling to see the added value, especially in the light of taking away invaluable experience opportunities from developing young players. If we look to bring in experienced seniors they should only be for key positions and of a quality that would make a difference - even if that means only getting one or two more expensive ones rather than a load of average ones.

Never liked Parky's lump it to the big man approach but in the current situation a target man would be useful and they ain't cheap especially if it's a young, pacy target man.
