To say tragic

But it's not tragic, it's absolute top drawer twattery

The world be a better place with this lot removed forever

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-49368649

Makes me sick

Add that to the chap in Newcastle, it's pretty clear law and order isn't simply a Sadiq Khan issue, but then I think we knew that anyway

I know it's fashionable to trot out the acab stuff, but this fella and the one attacked by the Asian lunatic in London are just blokes trying to do a job

Their lives are no more precious than another but they have to be protected and if that's stiffer sentencing, let's be having it

We'll see if Boris is true to his word.

not a fucking chance

I think you are wrong. There'll be some unpopular with the left shit like stop and search and the usual fucking whining about the 'disproportionate'  treatment of certain 'minorities' but fuck em. I have often wondered if anyone does a comparison with stop and search stats and serious drug and violence stats but am sure the 'racial stereotyping' screechers would move heaven and earth to prevent that happening.

No doubt in my mind that Boris will increase police numbers.

Regarding this poor lad murdered by these 'travellers', words I would rarely use. I agree with Casino.

They've thrown it out there already, looking at making prisoners serve their time more fully.

Maybe part of a manifesto being built.

It will be attractive to the electorate.

Time will tell.

To be honest, it was more a general reply, the mans a snake

Truly horrible story. Something desperately needs to change. There aren’t enough coppers, we all know that, but scum bags just aren’t afraid of them anymore. Lack of powers, lenient sentencing, etc, etc. We’ve gone way too far down the liberal path. I worry for my 82 year old mother living on her own. I worry for my 4 daughters/stepdaughters. I worry for Mrs Manc who not that long ago was chased in her car at high speed around Moston, Newton Heath, Harpurhey by a nut job with a record of serious violence. I don’t however know what the answer is

The answer is simple, we have to dig into our collective pockets and pay for more police.

The problem is, lots of the good experienced ones have taken redundancy or left during the cuts so to get numbers up again means recruiting loads of inexperienced rookies. That means we have a less experienced police force and therefore less efficient.

Copy that across social services, prisons, fire, probation services, ambulance, etc. Then think what those issues have on the NHS and we wonder why it can't cope despite the money chucked at it.

The whole of the public sector warned that a freeze on recruitment would lead to all of the above. The unions and federations were accused of scare-mongering.
It's what happens when you allow MPs to make the rules for things they know nothing about.

I will say one thing in their defence, we had a massively shit recession that had to be contained.

But the cuts were too savage in hindsight. Too much attention was paid to being seen to recover regardless of the cost.

Aye

economy contracted by 7% so spending cuts had to be made. The NHS was ringed-fenced and that’s 25% of government spending, we had the pension triple lock that effectively inflated the state pension which is another 20% of government spending. This all meant that the cuts fell on half of the outgoings, it ended up savage in some departments

In the 2010 election all three major parties had austerity on the table, a cigarette paper between all three manifestos really, certainly when compared to the sensational populism of today
