Can still do some damage. As you said in original post 'work life balance' think you have young kids, you do not get those years back.

Very true but I’ll be honest after my first 2 weeks at home with them I was looking for work away again 😂

I've had a shit last week or so with the old brain gremlins.

Come out for a mooch today on me Todd (1 of the benefits of self employment) helping clear my head. Sat having a brew in Wax and Beans in Bury and feeling brighter, sometimes a break from routine is needed.

I think you job is a big factor, you spend most of your time there so you should feel happy or at least content.

When I was younger travelling the world with work was great, when me and our Maude wanted to settle down and have kids it became tough, travelling all over and being away from home for 3/4 days a week was mentally tough.
I nearly jacked it all in but I went and spoke to my bosses and they helped me out, went down the medical route of work. From July I’ll be 9-5 mon - fri in a AC office, means I can put my kids to bed every night and watch Wanderers might not sound a lot but  I can already see light at the end of the tunnel just as a few changes.

My two Penneth. Echo what many have said re the job. Makes a huge difference and I’ve been in a job before where I’ve driven half way to the office and just stopped at side of the road and burst into tears. The stress and detest of the job just was destroying me and it was time to go. I’ve tried a couple of things since and then found something that made me content and whilst I’m really busy I don’t have the same stress or loathing of the job so it makes for a happy life.

in terms of meds @gonzo I was taking three sets of meds daily for three different things and decided that two of them No longer agreed with me

i was on a high dosage of fluoxetine for a considerable period of time and at the start it was transformational For me mentally and I felt I could cope again. Like anything the dosage required had to be increased over time and I was at the end  on the max allowed and like you say it had started to not really make a massive difference.

i re-engaged with CBT through my health insurance and that has helped and I decided to come off the fluoxetine and spoke to my GP about it . I have now been off them for 4 months and I feel no less able To cope now than I did then. Regular 3 days benders most weekends Wasn’t helping and I cut back considerably and the suicide Monday’s are few and far between now.

Like a few have said it’s good to talk and having people of a similar mindset going through the same issues helps massively. A chat is always just a message away pal

Been on 50mg of sertaline, I have to say its helped but its so low, I'm thinking of coming off them, never been a depressive type and always been fairly confident to the point of cockiness at times, but the divorce threw me a bit. Have to say, I love not working in theatre. This year has been great working with museums - places I actually love and spend my free time in, really than being nice to demanding people about a show I can't stand about why no-one wants to see the damn thing.

But, its been a big pay drop so, we'll have to see.

Some excellent points and posts on this thread.  I found it really heart warming.  Good luck to everyone with their own personal battles.  We might disagree on stuff but at the end of the day, we're all Wanderers fans just trying to get by.

Came off mine few years back as it was getting to me that I had to take medication for my moods and it went better than I thought coming off

however over the past few months old signs have been coming back so I’m at the doctors end of this week

Can I just say I've found this thread really heart warming to read fellas talking about their mental health to one another. As a woman it's easy to forget blokes go through this shit too.

I personally have never had struggles but my mum did growing up and I think that a huge effect on me. Especially with the new baby coming, trying to juggle being a Mum, career, personal life and relationships is fucking hard and you lot cheer me up when I'm feeling low. Even though your still a bunch of dickheads I wouldn't change you 😘

You'd love to change Rudy into a crotchless Batman costume with a utility belt full to the brim I reckon...

Start at a new school in September, current one has pushed me to ky mental limits, I'm not bright enough to be a teacher,  but I work hard and that gets me by.

I genuinely feel this is the reason why so many struggle. We push our minds beyond what we should do, push our bodies past what we should do, and after that bosses want more or expect more.

Starting the new place and hopefully it will be less draining,  but how do you walk away from a £36000 job when you gave a mortgage and kids. No wonder so many people pop.

Given our qualifications me and the missus could be bringing in 80k a year between us if it wasn't for various health issues.

Currently working on around 25k which is helped massively by the wife's PIP and the reduction in other costs it brings. Though the cunts reduced her mobility component last time out so that was a kick in the nuts and wiped out our small savings having to buy a car.

Thanks for the comments folks

Stupid thing is im in a better place than a lot

Even as fester said, its reasonable money, monday to friday

I think im just a worrier...actually had a really good chat at work with my bosses rallying round to help

@captainmed ì m not a land baron or owt  :)

A downsize and sell off my dads place, and maybe i could call it a day, but we agreed we will do another 4 years all being well

Also, unlike you, i would like to leave something for the kids 😀 though dementia is likely to sink that plan

A strong recommendation- watch the documentary this Thursday with Chris Van Tulleken (9.00pm). It's covering food and ingredients that essentially we shouldn't be eating. Seeing him interviewed twice has already got us thinking, and I intend to watch and make changes as necessary.

Even got me checking my naan bread!

If we can help our top nut health by simply eating better and avoiding shit, then that's a big positive. May not be a panacea, but a simple thing nonetheless.
