Beers are so much better these days, but Burtonwood Dark Mild was ok

I used to serve Burtonwood beers in the pub I worked in many years ago.

The normal bitter was shit, but they did a 5%-er called Top Hat that was lovely.

We also served Lowenbrau on draft before the brewery removed it because it was causing more fights than we could cope with.

I remember Top Hat when I worked for Burtonwood. We only sold it in half pints.

Can’t think of the name of it but it’s a little stubby bottle, think it’s Belgian 8%, not sure they do it anymore or if they do I never see it.

It used to be tucked away in the back of the fridge when I worked in the pub very so often I would get one and it would ruin me

Not widespread per se, but quite a few places sold it. Just don't see it anywhere now - probably due to the cost of replacing all glasses that everyone nicked.

Or maybe white beer was just a fad, along with ice beer.

Yeah, I've got 4 glasses

Bought em all your honour

Once liberated 2 blanc glasses, woke up following morning to find a pile of glass in my pocket

Outer glass was intact, strangely enough

Carlsberg HOF was a bit lively

Don't think I've ever seen superbock on draught

Maybe nando's at middlebrook would do it if there was one

I get my bottles from Makro or asda

There’s a tiny Portuguese bar in Tooting that has Super Bock lager and their stout on draft. Every now and then I go in for a pint of nostalgia.

:D He fiucking didn't and he still doesn't. I have an intense dislike for most things Queensland and definitely its fucking ale.

Of the 'regular' beers, I reckon Victoria's Carlton Draught is the best down here. We have some right shite over here including Emu Export and Swan Draught. Fucking paint stripper.

Agree that Carlton Draught is a decent beer compared to the other mass produced beer in that market, miles better than the Carling’s and Fosters over here. Also wish we could get James Squire beer in the UK, especially the golden ale.

The dark Superbock is a thing of beauty.

There's some cracking dark beers across Europe.

Ward's in Sheffield was another

Had the shits many a time after that

Been trying to remember the name of that.

They had it in the lever bridge for a while (after Tetley's had to sell some pubs off?)

It was excellent in fairness; never had a problem!

Only ever drank it Sheffield whilst at uni

Didn't think it would have travelled far outside of south Yorkshire

Think the brewery went around late 90s early 00s
