I'm glad the Paddy's got beat. Out of the two, and if we were to loose, then the Irish would be a tough pill to swallow. But having said that I fancy our chances against whoever won the IE/NZ qf. Us against NZ poses a great test for both teams. NZ will be favourites, and rightly so. But we will give NZ the biggest test of the WC, as they will obviously give us.I think if we play like we did against the Aussies then we could lose but could just as easily win if they struggle against a good defence. We played a functional game agains the convicts with little expansive rugby. If we play a bit more sexy against NZ we will probably get beat. This match is the WC final. What happens in the final will be an easier test for the winner of this s/f with just a hint of jeopardy but an Inevitable result.

Matt Lofthouse
Aye the french have tipped up. Won’t lose any sleep if the Welsh go out. Edited October 20, 2019 by Matt
Members bolty58
Some of us did advise that the French must never be written off in a one off game. Always capable of pulling out a big one when required. Just like them (if they get through) to capitulate without firing a shot against the Boks in the semi. Never, ever be surprised at anything a nation which eats frogs and snails does. As others have said, not disappointed in the slightest if the Welsh go out. Also arrived at the same point re NZ - if we have to go out in the semi, far better to them than the Irish. FWIW, I truly believe England will give the All Blacks a serious challenge and would not be surprised at all to see us playing the Boks in the final. When England won the WC in '03 I was suprised that some of they dyed-in-the-wool RL lot couldn't even doff their fat cap to the Union lot for winning the WC. And for them that did it begrudgingly it seemed that their praise was laced with arsenic. I put it down to jealousy. A bit like how the Scots are with the English. My uncle, who emigrated to NZ in 1953 was an RL player (our sideboard clock was a Lancs Junior Cup prize). He hated RU with a passion (even though he played it in the Army). In fact he could not write RU in letters home, but simply referred to "that silly kicking game". What I never understood was why he went to NZ rather than Oz. Members bolty58
..and yet RU is vastly more popular than RL. Funny that. People vote with their feet.
jayjayoghani
RL fans berate RU who in turn berate football. Malc, Auckland probably more into League than Union. The rest of the country as the stereotype.

jeep
1st semi-final tomorrow. Will be watching it on the train to Sheffield. New Zealand to win by 10 points. Hope it's closer of course. On Sunday South Africa to beat Wales by 18 points.
