Gonk
I thought I'd come straight to the experts on here, so Reet, what's the crack? I know the favourable feed in tariff ended last year, but if I have them installed, can I still claim something for any surplus that may be generated? Moderators Casino Posted October 11, 2019 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2019 Do you live in a council house?
Sweep
If you get them now, it'll probably take about 50 years to get a return on your investment.....the boat has pretty much sailed to make money. They also make your house look shit, and can fuck your roof right up

Site Supporter Spider Posted October 11, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2019 Use them to provide all your hot water. The money back thing is total bollocks.
Breightmet Boy
What I've thought about is having them on my garage roof to charge a electric car. Is this viable?

Hydrogen Power is the future for cars (ref. Moon Boy on the extinction thread). All you need is a small electrolysis system, disused fuel bunker, steam recovery plant and 50 foot storage cylinder - about 50M should cover it. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 12, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted October 12, 2019 I asked about this a little while back Gonk. A few useful replies, but it seems your roof needs to be right and the cost benefits are debatable.

miamiwhite
If folk have old tiled roofs, I wouldn’t recommend putting solar panels on until the tiles have been stripped and retiled. Leaks from porous tiles could well see the panels being stripped off just to find the cause of the leak. Personally, I wouldn’t have panels on my roof. Site Supporter Spider Posted October 12, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted October 12, 2019 My company sells solar kits. They need some looking after if your roof isn’t perfect. And again, using them for free got water is the most financially sound way.
