Where I'm pretty much at. We aren't able to put more than half of the assortment signed on D-Day out on the pitch anywhere  near often enough. The back four and two in front that didn't let Oxford anywhere near a few weeks back wouldn't have let Rochdale in as easily as happened today. Was only a matter of time till them bringing Wilbraham on would turn the game their way. Literally man against boys.

Real judgment of Hill and Flitcroft should be made this time next year, 12/13 games into next season, when they'll have had a full pre season with whatever squad of players they've put together over Summer

In the meantime, although I didn't enjoy seeing us lose today, and the manner of the goals conceded, I still enjoyed large parts of the game, seeing young, hungry players wanting to have the ball and showing confidence on it. There were some things done out there today, even in defeat, that were light years ahead of the fare served up week after week under Parky. However taxing it might get over the coming weeks of this bizarre season waiting for us to start winning a game or two, those players should still be encouraged to keep being brave and confident. The benefit of that patience and encouragement may not be seen in results terms till next season but it will be worth it in the long run

Spot on pal. Still looking forward to the match still enjoying a team trying to play football. Parky destroyed that feeling for me . Just hugely frustrating  on injury front at moment. Thats all im pissed off about not Keith Hill FFS.

Lowe you must be taking the piss ? Bridcutt missing today has shown how poor central midfield is no replacement

100% agree. Lowe is fine further forward trying to break things up. Ask him to receive the ball, look up and pick a forward pass; different gravy entirely.

Young lad worked tirelessly in midfield got in some tackles and blocks but offered little going forward. Crawford can pick a pass but doesn't have the engine and seems reluctant to commit himself to get into goal scoring positions at times.

Murphy up front is isolated and at his age isn't going to be making run after run into channels etc.

Didn't work yesterday, and if we're going to be relying on last year's partnership of lowe and Murphy in the middle, it's going to be a long slog.

I won't mention his name for fear of upsetting people, but perhaps a recent ex-manager of ours knew what he was doing when he recognised that, in the absence of having either centre-backs comfortable in possession or a midfield pivot able to drop deep to collect, we were better off hitting it long and playing off a target man's knock downs?

I'm not sure when will get our other point deduction for not playing games. But this will ensure our relegation, if we are not there already.

I really looked forward to today's game and expected a win. The reality is that it is technically a poor standard of football that we deliver. So many underhit/overhit passes, poor ball control and losing possession.

Well thats your problem then. I understand why you may have expected to win but after seeing team sheet nah.

Casino reckons our players were of similar quality to Dales. I dont agree. Not with the team we had to put out.You cant compare their experienced centre backs to a kid making his debut with a partner who wouldnt even be near the first team if 4 others werent injured.  Also yes Wilbraham changed the game  but  it was man against boys. Im sure Murphy might have done better against their fourth choice backs. And we have a striker short of marches and coming back from injury. No comparison for me

And how well did that work out for him last year?

We're going down. There's nothing to be gained by bypassing any possible development for the kids in favour of letting Jack Hobbs twat it towards old shit forwards 20 times a game.

Last year, when the club was disintegrating? Not very well.

But the two years prior that we approached things with a needs must mentality and it was successful. I don't prefer a direct style of football, the point is that it's simply a matter of horses for courses. To play out from the defence and retain possession, with the hope of passing through teams, it's necessary to have players capable of doing it. In recent weeks we've had those players. Yesterday we didn't.

And I don't know what bypassing the youngsters' development has to do with it. The only reason our young centre-backs started yesterday was because Hobbs and Wright are out injured, not because they're more comfortable in possession or help us play in a more aesthetically pleasing way. Hobbs and Wright are perfectly good enough to play out from the back with Bridcutt alongside them.

The floating supporters are no more likely to stay around if we lose whilst trying to play nicely.

Long ball is fine, it it has an end product. A 36 year old, on his own with insufficient support isn't going to achieve too much. A similar scenario last season.

If creativity is at a premium, then no problem going early, but perhaps have two up top?

Lat season was neither here nor there, this season is better, though it was clear yesterday it wasn't working and we were missing Bridcutt.

If he's out for a while, then maybe he'll change it somehow.

The way we are trying to play is creating nothing. I don’t think lumping balls at Murphy constantly is an answer either but we need more variety. Our only play is giving it to a lad playing on the left who has no left foot. Not all that clever. Need to vary the attacking play. Get through the middle more. I’d swap Graham and Lowe as Lowe looked good in the more progressive forward role this season and Graham looked a bit lost.

I wouldn't be surprised if he swapped Lowe and Graham around when we get a bit of experience back at centre half.

No matter what style of football we try to play, if the players aren't good enough relative to the players they're playing against, it'll always be shit.

But for one thing, if we had've gone more direct and used Murphy as a target man yesterday, it'd probably have meant Crawford would've played further forward, and had the chance to gain posession whilst facing the right way.

It's not the style of football I like, but we might've had more chance of getting a result.

With Bridcutt being out, Lowe goes back to do his job, I’d bring Crawford back to the space vacated by Lowe and play Dodoo up top with O’Grady for now or Connor Hall when fit.
l’ve seen nothing from Murphy which makes me think he’ll do well for us so I’d look towards a future strike force

Last summer i thought BWFC would cease to exist.

Yesterday i thought we had a chance to get a win.

Unfortunately due to injuries it did not happen.

Relegation will happen this season.

Next year BWFC will stay in the league ( just )

Then we wiĺl recover !!

In one pal!!

I agree, though Rochdale got plenty of joy when they started knocking it long to a bloke who turns 40 tomorrow.

They did, and they had blokes supporting from all over the place when necessary.

O'Grady coming on did nothing for us. Not even sure he touched it.

Dodoo looked the most dangerous for us and was left out wide. A great bit of skill and a cross from him for the goal too.

Jack Hobbs can be our dependable centre back (Wheater) for the next 3 years, whatever division we're in.  Everyone else can play around him, he's a top pro and if he hadnt played v Blackpool we lose that game, equally we draw yesterday with him playing.  We dont need points this season but a bit of progress and confidence is vital. Nothing wrong with his passing for a centre half, if he hits a few long balls its because he can.

I watched more than enough mind numbing and ineffective hoof ball over the past two seasons and am quite happy with what Hill and Flitcroft are trying to do with resources that seem to change and diminish every week. Those two lads at the back were comfortable and confident on the ball, passed it out well under pressure and did their defending  well, at least until Wilbraham was sent on to bully them. They'll make an odd mistake but, knowing Hill and Flitcroft of old, they'll not be discouraged from playing as they did.

I enjoyed again how we tried to play and will be fine if it's persisted with for the foreseeable future. The injury situation is having a major impact, put Bridcutt Buckley Hobbs and Wright in that team yesterday and we'd have won, no danger. Let's see where we are after Xmas when, hopefully, we might be able to turn out teams with most of all of those included

Did you watch the Blackpool game? Hobbs played very well and we certainly missed him yesterday.
