Aye, this league is worlds apart from division 2

Ffs, we knocked 5 past Walsall last year

Their keeper spent 25% of the game ont half way line being a melt. I'd have been all over us having a pop from there!

Lowe was immense and what a difference the 2 strikers made.

a fully fit team in this league would see us in the top 6 I reckon, after wins against 2 top 10 teams.

12k home fans is decent and everyone going away happy.

next 4 out of 5 league games will make a real difference if we can get a good points haul.

Above all else - the great performance, the team looking like a team, fitness levels back - I just really really enjoyed being at the match again.

Its been a chore, a steaming pile of shitty dross for so long that I’d forgotten what it felt like for the football to be an integral part of going to the match.

Honestly feels like we’ve got the club back and there’s nowt better. Nowt.

Exactly.  Getting the club back is all that matters.  Whatever division we are in, its about the club and team and owners and management doing things the right way.  Well said.

At no time in the Parky years would we have had a couple of Bolton strikers in the box when the opposition had the ball.  that goal was 80% down to the fact that Hill picked 2 strikers (3 if you include Dodoo) and so we had a weight of numbers.  Under Parky it would have been Vela chasing down from 20 yards away.

In 3 seasons at Bolton, the only striker Parky had who was good enough for the division we were in, was Madine , & it was Parky who turned him into a decent player. The rest of the time he was having to make do with duds like Wilbrahim, Le Fondre, Magennis & Donaldson, with no money to recruit better.

& Parky got us promoted from this division at the first attempt.

Rossiter was no.16 right? His shorts were pulled up REALLY high

Yes, that's why we noticed him, reminded me of Cullen, he also liked to wear his shorts really high!  Very impressed with him, cant remember us having a player who "never gave the ball away" in the last 30 years, yes there's more to being a midfielder, but a type of player I've always wanted us to sign.  Leadbitter at Sunderland is another one, so he'll be on his way out at Sunderland under Parky.

Excuse me? Madine was the only striker good enough for this league and Le Fondre was a dud?

It's time you stopped drinking.

I dont know where to start, not sure which bit I disagree with most, the Madine bit or the ALF bit.  But to call a proven goalscorer and footballer like ALF  a dud?  Incredible.

Tell you what.

its an absolute pleasure to watch this compared to the absolute shite served up by Parkinson.

by Christ it’s a good thing to see a team with evidence of training. An identity. A set piece or move.

Amen.

Just think how good we'll be when we unearth a proper #10 (even though I hate that term) or a proper creative midfielder - alas, Crawford was looking like he could be that.

I did not understand why we did not leave a man up. Would have pushed them back.

Keeper on half way line meant they had 10 outfield players pushed up.

Le Fondre was good enough for Div 1, not for the championship.

He was plenty good enough for the Championship had he played for a side that had a game plan that didn't rely purely on hitting it from one end of the pitch to the other and hoping for the best.

Le Fondre had failed at Wolves, Cardiff & Wigan before joining us. I accept he was good enough in Div 1, but wasn't good enough to hold down a starting place in a poor Bolton team in the championship & was rightly dropped for our most important game in years, was unwanted by anyone else which is why he went playing in jumpers for goalposts football.

He wasn't plenty good enough at his 3 previous championship clubs, he wasn't plenty good enough for us in the championship, & no other championship club wanted him.

Scored plenty of goals in Prem never mind championship.  Kept us up when Parky allowed him on the pitch. If Wolves, Cardiff and Wigan had better strikers at the time no problem, but ALF was a top player in every match I saw him in. Compare that to the embarrassment of watching Madine or Wilbraham trying to control a football or get a shot away.  O'Grady better than both of them at Div 1 level.

Anyway, taking yoof away from the ground today I was proud. He was absolutely buzzing!

At 9 yrs old and having only started going to games for the last two and a half years, he's had a pretty rough start.

Whilst the majority of his mates are Scum or Liverpool fans it properly warms my heart that he's a Wanderer for life. Poor little fucker.

(He even made a tasty £1 profit off Tomski for correctly predicting a 2-1 win)

Love that. My boy is only 4 so a bit early to be taking him week in and week out, especially when the weather is shit - not to mention the high chance of him ruining the Last Post pre-game with some high-pitched whine about Paw Patrol or summat. That said, going to the game has been elevated to a whole new level since he started coming with me, the attention-seeking, sweet-eating, fruit-shoot-popping, annoying loveable son of a gun.

Luke Murphy is Shit. Barely had a good game for us. Butvif he carries on like today, he deserves to be in the team. Fair play to him.

Politic was always coming off after they scored. I'd fine him for going down the tunnel. Grow some balls lad.

For the first year or so he enjoyed it, but I think he enjoyed just watching a football match. I forget which game it was, but it was a life changer for both him and me, when we scored I saw the look in his eyes, the same look WE all have. Hard to describe, but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean. That look of absolute pure, unadulterated joy.

That's the moment I knew I'd subjected him to a life of disappointment. So proud.
