Tbh, rather than having a full team of good uns who can probably go a long way in the comp, youre prob better having a couple of exceptional ones

I dont think we have either, sadly

Millwall do have to cup wins and another final under their belts

I definitely have it in my head they are stronger than you would expect at under 18

I’ll take one or 2 good enough for championship football.

Well, yeah

My point is that winning the fa youth cup doesnt mean you wiill have a great team in 2 or 3 years

Although I'm sure Roger will be itching to tell the class how it sometimes happens that almost the whole team come through and become world stars.

Remember Hill was critical of the younger players when he came in said the skill level was to low and they should be practicing more with the ball if him and flitcroft  can beat them at head tennis there is something wrong . Probably a big overall in the summer including coaching staff

I was speaking to the BWFC head kids scout a few months back (he’s left now) and questioned what the club was looking for and he said in line with FA they were looking for athletes first and foremost and ones they could improve technically, he said from Southgate down that’s the mantra.

So big galloots, run a lot and fast, but not necessarily with a football brain. As opposed to someone with a bit of technical ability who plays with his head up and has great positional sense and movement.

Surely there is a need for a blend of both types.

Any Bolton youth players attracting money were sold by either Ken or the adminstrators.Celtic and Man City took a punt in the Bolton firesale

The youth system is another area of the club inherited by FV which will take a couple of years to revive. There is basically Zouma who might become the next Danny Shittu, which is not to mock Zouma, Shittu had a career at second tier level. If we had five that good we'd be laughing

They aren't training enough, haven't been since Ken, not doing the same hours as others.

4/5 ? years ago, BWFC youth team won some cup by beating City at City in the final & they looked a better team with better individual performances than this week's team.

It would be interesting to see the team sheet from that night & what happened to them all. I think Holding played but didn't stand out.....i don't know if any of the others made it to 1st team level at Bolton or anywhere.

Your right Skim read the Bolton news article, Millwall lost to spurs at the same stage last season not the semi final.

Aye. We got to round five where we lost to Leicester.

The season before, Colchester and Blackpool were among the quarter finalists, with Blackpool losing to Arsenal in the semi.

Colchester didn’t beat anyone noteworthy, though, and even lost 4-1 against Reading in the fifth round before getting the tie in the stewards’ room.

Blackpool beat West Ham and Southampton along the way.

Imagine John Sheridan coming through that process ???
