It said inspectors were happy, though I’m sure that’s been said before on other building that have gone up.
Roger_Dubuis
I was in town, just had an hour watching the blaze from Nelson Square.I could only see a section of the building, the section at the right of the photo Spider posted. The cladding below the beams on that photo didn't burn. other than a very small section. Those beams are at the front of the building on Bradshawgate, the blaze to the left of the crane must be at the back of the building. The blaze was mostly put out by 11.30pm, although im sure the emergency services will be there a few more hours. There were tens of kids from the building outside the bus station some in their pyjamas and dressing gowns, some with no shoes and socks on.It must have been a race to get out of the building. The police were saying as far as they were aware everybody had got out of the building.Really hope they are correct

Leyther_Matt
Seen some photos from this morning and the top level is destroyed but thankfully it didn’t seem to spread any further down, on the outside at least. Can only assume a different type of cladding was used on the top level compared to the rest?

On Channel 9 news yesterday, the anchorwoman was talking to the Chief Fire Officer of NSW and he was telling her that the firebugs who started these horrendous fires would be hunted down and brought to justice. She then asked "Do you deal with the fires differently when you know that they have been deliberately started?" I really wanted him to say "Of course we do. We just say 'let the fucker burn' and piss off back to the station". Instead he just blinked, furrowed his brow and replied with a terse "No". What a fucking stupid question. Widnes Two Hats
I live in the Arches, well I did do anyhow, fortunately I was out on the piss on Friday so missed it. All the doors were kicked in by the fire brigade on Friday so I'm currently living in the Premier Inn. The cube looks a mess, I called home yesterday to collect some clothes but still can't move back in probably not til next week until the doors have been replaced and water back on. Widnes Two Hats
My apartment is the nearest to the cube so there's damage to the upstairs windown and patio doors. No idea when I'll be allowed back home, just keeping my eyes on social media for updates. The officials who where there yesterday also didn't appear to have any idea when residents will be allowed back
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 19, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted November 19, 2019 Have you much in the way of clothing etc then? Presumably still in your place. Can you pop along to the donation centre, or don't you count?
