Site Supporter only1swanny Posted December 23, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted December 23, 2019 Mrs Swanny went into hospital 3.5 weeks ago, she's came out and had to go back. Looking doubtful she will be out in time, do it's going to be a rather sucky xmas here.

MancWanderer
The usual split Xmas Day here Mrs Manc off to The Village Hotel in Ashton with her family for Xmas dinner. I'll be in the car for a sober Xmas Day in Bolton to make sure that I spend it with my Mum round at my brother's house Was a bit of a tough decision this year. MiL has just started her 3rd round of chemo and is particularly poorly with it. Matriarch Manc (that some off here know) battles on but I still can't not spend Xmas Day with her. Hard work this Xmas lark knowing what to do for the best sometimes
tomski
Wife’s family come round Xmas day and I’ll see mine in early Jan. Love Christmas mainly due to kids but it’s a decent time to reflect how lucky things have panned out for me. I like us all being off together (I like not working too) Boxing Day watching the superwhites and a decent sup.

Guest
Been saving up through the year to enjoy wine that I wouldn’t normally spend on. First up tonight, a splendid Amarone.

I've had some good £5 bottles and some shit £20 bottles.
Naytch
I’ve no family other than my parents and brother, so will just be the 4 of us at mum and Dad’s. Last time I really enjoyed Christmas was with the ex as her daughter was 5 and it brought the ‘magic’ of Christmas back to see how excited she was. I can’t be arsed with it tbh. No tree, decorations at my house. Just another day really.

I’ll revert to the red wine thread for anything of interest, but this amarone is splendid.
MancWanderer
When it gets to about July/August time we have our own family deadpool discussions. Who’s likely to have carked it by Xmas so what are the plans? Is it Xmas dinner here, somewhere else, both families, split families? What’s the best thing to do to be inclusive? We have a 70 year old on chemo, an indestructible 75 year old ginger who can only be annulled by throwing into a volcano, and an 83 year old who rattles on year after year with no signs of giving up At the end of the day we try to do our best for the old fuckers cos it’s only 20 years away in reality when the youngsters will be having the same discussions about me and Mrs Manc!! ErnestTurnip
Just dawned on me that this is the first year in almost 20 that I dont need to be father xmas and hide the prezzies and bring em in when they're asleep. Another bit of magic bites the dust.

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 24, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted December 24, 2019 Is everyone having the traditional turkey, or anyone plumping for something different/exotic? We're very fortunate in that we get given a turkey, and it's always a big bugger.
