Members Rudy
It’s like a landmine field in Angola out there. Both cars in our house have had to had their track rod ends done at some point this year, Tyres are taking a battering. The roads are an absolute mess in and around Bolton. Is there a certain criteria before the council fill them in with paper mache or should I start spray painting cock and balls over them and tweeting them to Bolton Council? From memory, once they're reported, don't they have to spray paint them in blue after so many months, then have to fill them in after another further so many months ? I'm sure Frank Spencer will know the precise and up to date details, it's his remit isn't it ?

Might use yellow now, so that would speed things up

If no one reports them then they won't get filled. Not enough highway inspectors to cover all the roads. Then if they meet whatever the current government criteria are they'll get filled in. (This reminds me of Darren and his ruler https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2018/03/12/highway-inspector-darren-gets-mocked-after-pothole-picture-goes-viral-7381066/amp/) these measurements have probably got less stringent since I left 5yrs ago to make things seem better on the statistics. If not then they'll be added to the massive list of highway defects that need fixing but there's not enough money to fix. If they hadn't wasted millions on dogshit "traffic calming" work, there might have been enough money to resurface the regions apalling roads. The one that pisses me off the most is when they stick "Build outs" on a main rd - fucking dangerous in my opinion. Traffic calming my arse. ErnestTurnip
I reported one near us once and it was filled in within a couple of weeks, had no faith in it working but it did in this case.
QFPants
Being able to claim from the council if your tyre gets ruined from a crater of a pothole; is that an urban myth or any truth to it?

It’s true. You need to take a picture of the pot hole at the time and the damage at the time as well or as close to it as feasibly possible. Day after won’t cut the mustard though
Members Rudy
My car my responsibility so I won’t be claiming off the council, that happens and my council tax gets chucked up, but they do need sorting. If we have a bad winter they’ll get worse

That's what the council is judged on at the end of the day. Plus the traffic calming budget is a fraction of the pothole budget which itself is a fraction the resurfacing budget. My rods are OK and I drive the same roads.
