I thought it might be a bit like Derek? Wasn't a big fan of that. I'll give it a go though - cheers!

Derek was dreadful. Afterlife is brilliant, funny honest but a bit melancholy.

No kent i turned Derek off made me cringe and had alwaysw found him too sarky and sneering. Afterlife completely different tho funny and sad and uplifting actually. Well thats how i saw it

Therein is my issue. If you've not enjoyed someone's work previously, it's hard to be motivated to follow other stuff.

Afterlife is superb, catches every emotion some will go through losing someone so close.  His stage show is great, he knows he’ll lose punters but ‘what the hell’, at least he’s got the guts to express himself and laugh at it.  Didn’t like him much until I watched his stage show, did what he had to do to entertain the crowd, did it superbly I thought.

The office is one of the funniest and timeless comedies of all time imo.

I love Ricky Gervais though and anything he does.

That last night was brilliant.

I would probably say it is the best British "sit com" of all time. Complete genius. Genre defining. And the writing is unbelievably good.

I read about Michelle Williams that she thanked her aborted child for enabling her to have a successful career

I didn’t watch it; is that true?

Pretty much

that clip was very funny

for the record:

UK office, very good
US office, very good once it stops trying to be the UK office
Extras - some of those cameos are comedy gold
never seen Derek
Afterlife ok

as for his stand up, only seen Animals, but it's very very funny

close to the bone but a class apart from trying-too-hard-to-shock comics like Frankie Boyle
