QPR I thought. Crouch playing for them.

Dunno about who the opposition were but crouch def wasn't playing back then

First time we came across him was away at qpr away in 2000ish

Him and Dowie both subs warming up next to each other, so the "freeeeaks" chants went on for a while

The top tier was half and half, but there was only one qpr fan in their side, wearing a mexican sombrero

It seems random but maybe i dreamt it

A much improved 2nd half with plenty of effort but missing the cutting edge......I didn't really think we were going to score.

I thought Pompey were ordinary & we matched them at football but they outplayed us at shithousery , helped no end by a soft referee. Suspiciously soft !!

Promising performances from the youngsters Edwards, Darcy & Politic ( & Fleming, but i still don't see the point ) but Lowe MOM, good in midfield & then very good at centre half.

The ref, like many others, was fucking awful.

In our position, such things matter and have a huge impact on the game. Honestly, he was dreadful, to the point where it’s no wonder theories develop about us being an EFL target.

Team played well, Pompey were just a bit more savvy. Otherwise we matched them and lack only a cutting edge.

Hill should probably be getting more out of the squad he has. He really need to start getting results because this lot are capable.

Think that’s a bit harsh. The team, at the moment, is changing on a daily basis. With  transfer comings and goings (we’re unsure  how much - especially with the Kenyon confusion - Hill is in control of the purse strings) and the availability of senior players there’s not a lot of consistency in who he can pick.

I thought today, a bit like Rochdale, it was surprisingly organised and there is optimism for moving forward. From September we have become a side who we think can win and compete in this division. All be it for those who are realistic there’s still more downs than ups

I didn't enjoy their 90 mins worth of shithousery or how it was allowed by another set of piss weak officials.

I did enjoy though the 90 minutes of courageous, spirited effort I saw from all of those in a white shirt. Impressed that a side with so many young uns in it weren't bullied out of it and kept on showing, taking people on and getting stuck in.

All three new signings did well. A lot been said about the rights and wrongs of who was let go, who was signed and why, some of which by KH that seemed confusing and contradictory, all I saw was they looked like good solid additions.

We were unlucky and should have got at least a point. Some of our play when we nicked the ball and broke on them was great to watch. Darcy's ability to find space and use it is top level. Dennis's best game for us though he needs to see people in better positions and play them in now and again. Edwards a good young defender, tough lad to try and carry on after that injury, though hampered a bit by it I think when trying to defend the ball in for the goal

Goal was a poor one, great ball in but Matthews should have done better and pushed it further wide. Too much of a mixed bag for me, Matthews, a worldy or two now and then but doesn't command six yard box and too many getting through he should deal with.

Don't often enjoy defeats, and was angry coming away about those lads being hard done by, but otherwise a lot to like today

Things much better second half

The changes made were proper 442 with Grady replacing politic

The Manc going centre mid

Lowe going to cb

So, how about we start with that next time

If there's one change, for me, it's mo for dodo

Having seen the left back, I'm no less confused as to why Chicksen went

Positives...there's some spirit left in the team

I agree with most of that but Dodoo did OK, he has something about him at centre forward.

I was thinking the same about the left back, nothing against him obviously and good luck to him, but Chicksen is simply a better player.  Its all been said before, its just bizarre.  Like even if Bunney is the white Roberto Carlos, who's the back up for the next 18 months?  Good luck signing someone better who fancies being 2nd choice in Div 2.

The lads played one game ffs, give him a bit of time to settle in.

Then if he turns out to be biz we can give him dogs abuse 😂

Decent effort.

Politic has been underused this season

That's an understatement.  Another mystery from Hill.  He makes things happen, has more variety and shooting ability than the fairly one dimensional Verlinden for me. Its massive for us to keep Politic, Crawford and Lowe for next season.  All 3 should be playing no lower than Div 1 and if Hamilton fancies it that would make a more than adequate midfield.

No criticism of him at all.  Just saying he's no better than Chicksen.  Whether he's played 1 game or 100, we know already how strong he is, how fast he is, whether he can beat a man, what his crossing is like.  He's OK (better than Taylor and Moxey obviously) but clearly not better than Chicksen at any of the above.  And just as important, he's no interest in being here next season.

I completely forgot about Darcy there.  He was the best midfielder on the pitch today.  Hands up who said he should be rested?  Top quality from him, simply knows what to do with the ball, see passes I cant see from the stands and more importantly can execute them.  In comparison, by the time Murphy has controlled the ball, looked around and passed at a pedestrian pace, Darcy has us moving quickly up the field.  You cant teach that (although Hill will probably claim credit).  He looks like the player I used to think Vela could be.

Too early to judge in my opinion.

Only my opinion but I reckon we've judged most signings after 1 game.  I think the exceptions are strikers, like if Murphy doesn't have a couple of efforts on target  or notch a goal, he might look very poor.  But as long as the game is an "even" game (not a 5 goal defeat where we only see our team defending),  minds are made up and rarely wrong after 1 game eg Hamilton, Darcy, Bridcutt, Wright, Earl - nothing changed from the first time I saw them to the last.

Clearly not? I disagree wholeheartedly so it ain’t that clear

I'm not trying to criticise Fleming, no obvious flaws apart from possibly pace and height, I just thought Chicksen looked better in most aspects.  Which parts of his game would you rate Fleming better?

Crikey I'd loved to have seen your view on JJ after his first couple of games
