Just a cold?

never seen a cold close a gp practice before if I’m honest. But the experts on here know better than me

Said very much tongue in cheek pal. Reckon the real numbers infected or dead are much more than being reported.

Also think in a couple of weeks the shit hits the fan when global shipping is disrupted, as sweep has already said.

I’ve been buying some Chinese Herbs and vapour rubs from a Chinese based company. For a box of 12 herbs containing 96 pills each and 48 tubs of vapour rubs it costs £180 exc. VAT.

Got an email today telling me they were suspending shipping due to the coronavirus. Which puts me in a bit of a predicament because I use them at work.

Searched around and the same products are in Germany for the same amount £754.

Nowt worse than a cold, i believe is the line you used

Granted flu is worse than a cold, but this is the biggest over reaction since the last biggest over reaction

In your opinion.  Nothing more than a cold was taken from our resident expert

We don't often agree but here we do. Mortality rate of about 2% - from reports we are getting down here that 2% is mainly old and infirm (with some notable exceptions like the doctor who first spotted it).

Has started me wondering though if a virus will one day end up being the 'end of the world' for human kind. Mother natures way of stopping us polluting perhaps?

In essence this is a cold. It’s just one we have no immunity to. It’s seemingly difficult to stop spreading. Which is the major worry. But still. Hundreds outside of China have been infected with it and only 2 have died. Even if the China numbers are nonsense that suggests currently this thing has a low mortality rate.

latest updates from my suppliers....they were due back to work today, that's now been pushed back to 17th  - Shanghai has just gone on total lockdown  -  It'll be over a month since any product shipped from my suppliers, before they start shipping again  -  crackers!!

The factory I deal with that is open, has had 35 members of staff turn up today....out of an over all work force of over 800, purely because they live near the factory - all other employees still in their home provinces. Even if they could travel to Shenzhen, they'd have to go straight into a 2 week  quarantine period when they got there.

When the supply chain is this badly affected, it takes months to sort itself out - at some point, we'll see shortages here on all sorts of weird shit that people probably don't realise (or care) originates in China

Probably going to struggle to find a valentine's day card for the mrs in Tesco

if you mean for the West to stop buying low cost Chinese stuff.......that's never, ever going to happen

Not stop, no. But realise that putting all your eggs in one basket is risky. Especially when that country doesn't operate on the same fair plane as others.
