Im lucky

All my older relatives are dead

which is probably why you think it's crazy, you have no concerns

I'll probably get my folks to come and live at mine and let them sit in the front room all day - and make sure they have everything they need - no need to come within 2 metres of them, but need to make sure they are ok

far easier than driving to horwich however many times a week to make sure they are ok

and if me or the mrs show symptoms, the other takes them home

that's my thinking at the moment anyway, but I'm not fancying the idea of leaving them home alone to wait this out

Our fantastic English brothers in Benidorm are pissing off everyone from the police to the locals I see.

Wandering around the streets like pink gorillas, acting proper hard and challenging the authorities claiming they can do what they want.

They dress like cunts, act like cunts and talk like cunts and it’s no wonder the Spanish fucking hate us.

This virus is too good for them.

No surprise but the wonderful snp have decided they aren’t going to enforce the same advice and it will no be isolation for the over 70’s. I hope if this results in one extra unnecessary death that she swings for every incremental person that sadly has passed away.

I’ve just come back from Fife, train pleasantly spacious.

Some chat up there being sarcastically mischievous about her using this as a chance to put a border in place.

My dad is 78, got Parkinsons and had pneumonia in the past, which would be classed as underlying no doubt

My mum generally ok, bit of arthritis and made full recovery from breast cancer, minus one breast

It's my dad im concerned about

Theres nothing stopping over 70s voluntarily isolating

You dont have to wait for politicians telling you to do it

Jock way, you make up your own mind

Spend months living a shitty life with no guarantees anyway, or get on with your life

Anyway, whatever they and you decide, hope it works itself out

Ps the dog will need to be with them or you

To be fair, other than going to the crown once a week and occasionally into bolton on the bus he spends plenty time at home anyway and he's at the stage with it where it generally just slows you down

But my mum is still plenty active

I'll give them a call, see what they think

I’ve no issue with over 70’s ignoring the advice and staying out

As long as when they get ill they don’t expect to be looked after by the NHS. Can’t see many choosing to die quietly at home mind. The same ones ignoring the advice will be the ones kicking off that the NHS don’t have enough ventilators

The isolation advice is aimed to save the NHS at the end of the day

When is it ever going to be safe for over 70s to show their faces again

It really is getting crazier by the day

Im with sturgeon

The issue is if they all go out and end up needing critical hospital care in the same period we are fucked. And younger people may die unnecessarily. Everyone needs to do what they can here. It is shit. But there are worse things than staying in your home.

The way I read all this is the NHS want people to get it at a steady rate so they can cope with the treatment, not a big percentage at the same time.  So I've not been out on my week off, concluded that people will go to the pub with the symptoms as they'll all think they won't get it.  I may be wrong and its best to get it earlier rather than later, but prevention is better than cure.  Sounds shit to me and I'm the biggest puff in the world when poorly.

I agree. That’s a tough one. Stories were that if too many needed hospital treatment they would stop treating over 65s. That’s the point we could get to. Scary.

A healthy 70 year old is at less risk than a 30 year old athsmatic

Not according to the research articles I’ve read. Age is the single biggest risk. They think it’s to do with changes in immune system pathways as people age.
